Venofer infusion side effects? (iron infusion)

Hi, I am 35weeks pregnant and I've had 3 venofer (Iron) infusion with a fourth booked in for next week.

Anyway I was wondering if anyone has had one in pregnancy? Did you have any side effects?

After each one I've had so far I get severe headaches that last about a day and contractions.

These contractions aren't in any kind of regular patern more like braxton hicks but instead they hurt and are more frequent. Anyone had any similar symptoms after an Venofer iron infusion?

I have monofer and have never had any side effects apart from a horrible taste of metal. And I’m like a new woman inside a week.

What hoops do you have to go through to get these?? I've been anaemic in both pregnancies (quite severely n the last one) and tried all sorts of different tablets etc. Every time I bring it up, they just say, well there's this other thing we should try first.

At last bloods, ferritin was at 14, but haemoglobin was ok still at 111... I'm breathless and dizzy a lot of the time though. Have just had to jack in the tablets after three weeks because of the diarrhoea, rashes and blood in stool!

Last pregnancy, hb was tanking down at 90 soon before I give birth. It was 73 after the birth, but still just foisting the tablets on me!!!

I can’t tolerate any oral iron supplements, I tried every formulation. Then I felt very peculiar and went to the docs and he did some bloods and my ferritin was 3. I kept passing out, they admitted me and kept a close eye for a couple of years. I’m back to 6 monthly top ups now.

I couldn't keep the oral supplement that they gave me down. They said my levels weren't just low but empty and I'm due to be induced because of heart problems and so on so instead of getting a blood infusion after labour an iron infusion is best for my heart condition, so they are giving me Venofer infusion 3times a week untill I give birth. Maybe keep asking or request a second opinion from a different doctor?

I researched online and people seem to be fine after getting the infusion but I always feel worse after (More exhausted, my bones and muscles ache, head aches, and abdominal tightening) but today my spine has this pulsating pain Everytime I walk or go from standing to sitting I don't know if that is a side effect of the Venofer or something else but it's intense😒
