How many maternity pads/always discreet underwear to pack??

Hi!

I want to take my own stash of maternity pads or pull up incontinence type of underwear in my labour bag. The Always Discreet underwear was super comfy and amazing during a miscarriage last year (super soft, comfy and high up) so most likely will be using that but have also bought maternity pads just in case.

I am hoping for a straight forward vaginal birth but wanted to be prepared for anything especially with Covid restrictions of my husband not being allowed to come in and out of hospital etc.

So my question is that really! How many pads / Always underwear would you recommend I pack and would need?

Thank you!

I was in for 2 nights after my c-section and didn't get through one whole pack. I would say buy more than you need, I bled on and off for 5 weeks so I got though a lot more than I thought i would

I took a pack of 10 (the boots maternity pads) I bled very heavy. I also used the hospitals as it was easier sometimes. I needed more at home.

I took a pack of 20, I had one night in hospital (easy birth but needed GD monitoring), then opted for 3 nights in postnatal unit near home. I think I needed a second pack though by then but DH brought them in as wasn’t Covid times.

I did change every 2hrs to start with and then it went to 3-4. It was a lot of blood.

Take plenty.

I took 30, 3 packs of 10. Stayed in 4 days and hemorrhaged. Needed 2.5 of the 3 packs. Better to pack more than you think you'll need as you may not be able to get your birth partner to go home/to the shops and bring them to you (covid) .

I was in 3 nights and went through 2 packs

I’ve got 2 packs in my bag. Midwife said pack enough stuff for 3 days. I bled quite heavily with my first

sylbunny · 14/01/2021 17:07

I got through 2 packs in 24 hours. I did have a post partum haemorrhage and midwifes were doubling up the pads. I think I needed 3 packs in the 2 nights I was there.

I packed 2 packs, and then sent my DH home with the bags that had my pads in Grin (he had to leave due to covid)
I ended up using the wards maternity pads, so dont worry you wont be without if you run out!

I bought 3 packs of pads from boots, barely used one pack. I was given some in my brief stints in hospital and the ambulance maternity packs have more. Still don't think I used more than a packs worth before swapping to ultra sanity towels and then working my way down what I had in the cupboard.

I used a fair fee for soaking up trickling waters.
