30 weeks pregnant, blood clot on lung

I am absolutely petrified.
I'm 30 weeks pregnant today, tested positive for Covid on Sunday, started with a headache then got to the point I couldn't move or breath. 111 sent an ambulance straight out at 5pm yesterday.
I'm now laid in a Covid ward, antibiotics, steroids, fluids, blood thinners. They have said they're 90% sure it's a blood clot on my lung but need to send me for a CT scan, which they refuse to do on pregnant women. However, they're sending me for one as a blood clot can be deadly to me and baby.
They have said they will more than likely have to get her out early. I also have an 18 month old girl at home.
I am so so scared.
Has anyone had any experience with this sort of thing? Or had a baby so early with a positive outcome?

Not quite the same but like you at 30 weeks I was admitted to hospital with Covid. They were really worried about a blood clot, and mentioned delivering the baby early. They did a VQ scan (apparently that's safe in pregnancy while a CT is not). It came back clear. So I guess what I'm saying is don't panic yet, wait until you have the scan results! It's terrifying though - I really hope you get good news.

They did mention that scan but said it isn't always accurate and all the signs are pointing towards the clot so they want to make sure they get correct results ASAP x

My sister has a blood clot on her liver. It wasn't discovered in her 2015 pregnancy - that's a whole other story - but they knew for her next pregnancy and were able to band it and keep under close review - her son was born at 32 weeks by csection as they just wanted to get him out.

Just to let you know, I had a ctpa in my last pregnancy at about 25/26 weeks. So they do do ct scans in pregnancy. Increased dd's odds of getting leukaemia by about 2%. But her risk of leukaemia already quite low...

And she's totally fine. A bit bonkers, but fine!!

I had a ct scan while pregnant due to suspected blood clot in lung was all clear but was told ct was fine , hope you start to feel better xx

Thankfully CT came back clear. On steroids, thinners and IV antibiotics for 7 days but hopefully they'll let me home with tablets over the weekend.
I feel dreadful still but missing my little girl so so much

Oh thank goodness it's clear .... my sisters pregnancy flagged up an issue which I was tested for and then had the same condition....so at least I was able to take blood thinners and have consultant care. I didn't want to say in my earlier post but her pregnancy with the undiagnosed blood clot ended in a stillbirth at full term and she was in HDU for a few weeks. Very scary. The pregnancy where they were aware of the blood was managed a lot better.

Oh that's amazing news, I'm so glad it came back clear! Sorry that you're still feeling so rotten - make sure you rest and let others take care of you! I'm sure you're desperate to get back to your daughter but please please make sure you're looking after your own health first, this virus is foul! Wishing you a speedy recovery xx

So sorry you had to go through this horrible experience. Pregnancy is stressful enough, who needs more of the load?!

I had covid at 18w, it was tough but luckily my oxygen levels stayed normal (GP gave me an oxygen monitor thingy). So no need for the hospital. Hopefully you’ll be able to go home and be with your family soon!
