Cerclage removal (Shirodkar cervical stitch)???

I'm due to have my cervical stitch removed in a few weeks (all being well up until then!) and I was wondering if anyone had experience of having a Shirodkar stitch removed?

From doing a bit of googling it seems it is often done under a spinal, whereas the McDonald stitch is more straight forward and removed without pain relief?

Would super appreciate any stories on how it went for you! Especially if done during Covid as I wasn't allowed my husband with me in hospital when I had it put in, and just wondering if he's likely to be able to come in with me in the (very small) chance I do go into labour as soon as it is removed -I know this will depend hospital to hospital).

Mine was removed at the same time as delivery by c-section. I have to say that it was pretty uncomfortable afterwards. You will need pain relief.

Hi from what I've seen on a ic fb group I'm on seems that they are either take out under spinal as they are so high up or are taken out at the same time if the women is having an elective section x
