Hi

I went to epac on tues as I had 1 sided pain on my left hand side. They took my beta hcg and sent me home awaiting results that eve. They came back at 1040 and progesterone 32 so wanted me to come back the next day for a scan as when beta was over 1000 they should see something.

So I went in wed morning for them to scan me and they saw NOTHING. Not even a sac. The sonogropher even asked me if I had taken a pregnancy test to check........Ummmm yea I have like 10 thanks. Anyway told I ovulated out of my right overy so god knows why my left side is hurting. Nurse sent me hone with a “pregnancy of unknown location leaflet and asked me to return thurs for my second beta

Back for beta on Thursday and I was expecting a drop in beta or at least a small rise but nope THEY DOUBLED.

So mc is out of the question but still unsure if it’s ectopic and I have to return on wed for a second scan.

I was certain of my dates as I used ovulation sticks and I got my static smiley face on the 13th dec making me think I ovulated on the 14th and I had a positive test (squinter) on Xmas day. So just 11 days after I ovulated.

I’ve had no right hand pain at all, my betas are doubling, my progesterone is in the normal range I’ve had no bleeding which is all making me think it doesn’t point to ectopic but I also feel like they should of seen something when they scanned me on wed. Could my dates be off by a couple of days even though I had a static smiley face on my clear blue ovulation stick? Could I have ovulated like 2 days after the positive ppl? Making me only 5 weeks exactly?

I’m so worried

Anyone had similar or have any thoughts? As epac weren’t very informative other than the leaflet that scared the bell out of me

Thanks xx

You can ovulate 12-36 hours after a positive ovulation test and you could have implanted late, so even if you are counting it from your last period it might be early?

I was told you can’t really see anything on a scan before 6 weeks but not sure if that included the sac.

Sorry I don’t really know, they couldn’t see my ectopic but your hcg is MUCH higher than mine so it’s surprising. How stressful for you, I have my fingers crossed it’s early and they can see it soon 🤞🏻

Did they do an internal scan?

Louabihudd · 09/01/2021 22:22

Yes it was an internal scan.

Yes my hcg is high so I would of thought they would of seen it in my tubes if they couldn’t see it in my womb. Thanks for your reply x

Hiya!

I had the exact same situ. Ovulated from right and pains on left. Went in 5+1 and no baby seen with hcg of 700.

Hcg done again 3 days later and was at 2300. Had a scan the following week from the 1st and yolk sac was seen. I was supposed to be 6+1 but they said I was more like 5.

They said baby implanted on left and that's probably why I was getting left sided pain.

Now 9+3 and seen baby and heart beating away on scan.

Hope this puts your mind at ease. Also was positive I was correct with dates due to when I had my positive pregnancy test so thought something was up. All seems well xx

Thank you so much Gemma x

Just to update everyone, I had a second scan this morning and there was a gestational
Sac, yolk, fetel pile and the start of a heart beat but I’m measuring a week behind xx

Thanks for the update @Louabihudd. Does this mean everything is ok even if you’re measuring a week behind? 🤞🏻

There is no way for them to say that though at these early stages, nothing is guaranteed sadly. I've had hcg tests that increased as they should, heartbeat even and still a bad outcome. I've had bleeding and pain and had a healthy baby. The waiting is awful but there's no way round it. I'm really glad you've had a more positive scan OP and hope everything continues to be positive for you Flowers

Louabihudd · 12/01/2021 17:03

Yes they said I must of ovulated late even though I had positive ovulation test but so far everything looks as it should. Plus they were going by my lmp which isn’t the standard 28 days so they dated me 5.+4 last week when I thought I was 5+2 but by today’s scan I would of only been 5 on the dot so 4 days out x

That all sounds really positive Smile

3rdtimemomma · 12/01/2021 18:30

My first scan at 6 weeks I thought I was a few days ahead, they dated a good 4-5 days behind but at my dating scan and another private scan at 8 weeks it was far more accurate and I was back to my original and back to 4 days ahead! It's so inaccurate that early! X

OPKs measure a rise in lutenising hormone. While this usually leads to ovulation, sometimes this fails and your body will have a second LH spike later. You may have had your positive OPK but if you'd kept testing get a second one a week later which was the successful ovulation. Great news they can see something and I wouldn't worry too much about being a week behind expected, it is probably a second LH spike.

Louabihudd · 13/01/2021 17:57

@PlanBea thanks for confirming that I didn’t realise that could happen.

@3rdtimemomma yea maybe that will happen with me in 6 weeks time. I can’t remember if that’s what happened during my other 3 pregnancies. My eldest is 13 now and youngest 4.

Sounds extremely early to see anything on a scan. My ivf clinic won’t scan until after 6+5 for that reason. Your beta results look very positive though
