Progesterone pessaries- how far to put in?

Hi all,

Sorry for the fairly graphic subject! I'm in very early pregnancy, and I was prescribed progesterone pessaries yesterday, which are inserted into the vagina. Does anyone know how high up you have to put them? Just inside the vagina, or as far up as you would put a tampon?

Thanks very much!

Just push it in with your finger, high enough that it doesn't feel like it will fall out.

Hi I am on these too. Yes just push up as far as it feels comfortable. Youl know yourself. If you find them too 'messy' you can insert in the rectum. Totally your choice. Good luck 😘😘

I had these 4 pessaries a day for 12 weeks with my ivf pregnancy. As high as feels comfortable. You can use the applicator or finger. Whatever feels best. Only certain pessaries can also be done rectally so check the leaflet carefully. If you’re on utrogestan they can only be done vaginally. Also use panty liners. They are messy.

Wonderful, thank you everyone. There's no applicator, so I'll have to use my finger but I'll treat it like a tampon and do it as high as I can do comfortably. Thanks again Smile
