Spotting and feeling hot at 10 weeks

Hoping someone may have had a similar experience or be able to advise. I’m 10 weeks tomorrow, had a scan at 7 weeks and everything looked fine. Today I noticed I’ve been feeling a bit warm, whereas usually in the house I would be freezing. I’ve just been to the loo and have a little pink spotting when I wipe. I’ve not had any spotting so far and this is my first pregnancy. Finding it hard not to panic 😢

Hello, didn't want to read and run!

I am only 7 weeks so can't help too much apart from I've had pink and brown spotting throughout so far. Have had three scans. The last was last night and baby was fine!

It's so hard to not panic- I've had losses before so it's even harder for me and I'm constantly anxious.

I do know I have a cervical erosion (lot less scarier than it sounds) and that can cause the spotting xxx

MintGreenLife · 05/01/2021 18:31

@littleeggcup thanks for your reply ☺️ So sorry to hear you’ve had similar scares and sorry for your losses. I think because I’ve had nothing like this so far, no cramping or anything, it’s really spooked me. I have mild backache too.

I phoned my midwife and they have referred me to the EPU and said I should expect a phone call from them in the morning, so hopefully I’ll get a scan to check things over. Glad to hear everything has looked fine with your scans despite the spotting xxx

I'm 9 weeks and started having bright red bleeding earlier today, I passed a clot too so obviously totally freaked out. Luckily I work in a hospital so was able to get seen in EGU and scanned pretty much straight away. Baby was in there with a heartbeat and everything looked ok. The bleeding is still ongoing so worrying but the midwife was very reassuring. She said her clinics are filled with women experiencing bleeding in early pregnancy and most of them go on to have successful pregnancies, it's apparently very common.

I hope this is a bit reassuring, she said to me that even quite heavy bleeding can be normal. Keeping everything crossed for your scan tomorrow.

MintGreenLife · 05/01/2021 19:56

@startedearlytookmycats so sorry to hear you’ve had the same, it’s so unsettling isn’t it. Great to hear all is looking ok with you though.

My spotting seems to have stopped now, going to keep a close eye on it and hopefully will still get checked over tomorrow. Just didn’t expect it at all so really shook me up initially! X

If you've got fever, covid test.

I'd get in touch with midwife or gp as covid negative with fever could be infection.

MintGreenLife · 05/01/2021 21:38

@physicskate thank you, I’ve taken my temperature and it’s not raised and am feeling fine now temperature wise. Will keep an eye on it though x

Hi I’m nearly 10 weeks abs had a missed miscarriage back in July so I’m absolutely petrified of what could happen everything has been fine so far other than a bad uti , but then I’ve been to the loo this morning and had a pink string type thing in discharge but I have to wait until Friday for a scan, had anyone had anything similar I’m having the odd cramp but it just feels like normal period pain thanks....sorry if I have posted on the wrong thing I’ve never used this

Mills28 · 06/01/2021 07:02

Hi there I’m 7 weeks today and going for early scan as I had pinky, stringy discharge when I wiped for two days. I think I’m having the scan for my anxiety more than anything because the doctor didn’t think it sounded like cause for concern.
Honestly every time my boobs stop hurting or my (ALL DAY AND NIGHT) nausea disappears I’m convinced something bad is happening!

With my first child who is 11 now, I remember I bled heavily like bright red fresh blood until 12 weeks. Everything was heathly though all the way through!

I hope it all goes well 🖤

Mantha96 · 06/01/2021 07:11

Yeah I know what you mean my anxiety is through the roof the slightest twinge I think the worst but I know I can’t get stuck in that head space I also have two healthy kids 6/5 but I don’t remember ever having this with them and the thought of having to wait another two days for a scan is freaking me out, Thankyou for responding

MintGreenLife · 06/01/2021 08:27

@Mills28 it seems it’s pretty common and hopefully not anything to worry about. Is your early scan private or with the NHS? My spotting hasn’t returned so not too worried now, but hopefully will still get seen by EPU to just get checked over.

@Mantha96 I wouldn’t be surprised if I end up having to wait a few days to be seen, although my midwife seemed to think I would be able to have a scan with EPU today. It’s really unnerving to have spotting, at 10 weeks with none so far I really didn’t expect it, but really does seem like it’s quite common x

Just a little update - spoke to EPU and they're not going to see me as the spotting has stopped. Have been told just to keep an eye on it and call back if worried. Hopefully all is OK and have my 12 week scan in a couple of weeks time, so not too long to wait.

It’s with the nhs hun at EPAU as I was in hospital last week and was told I had a bad uti so they booked me in for the scan while I was there I think some of it may be mind or matter with me and could potentially just working myself up because of what happened earlier this year

Newyearsameoldshite · 06/01/2021 11:28

Glad everything has settled down for you - fingers crossed all is well. Feels like 12 weeks is such a long time to wait for that scan!!

My bleeding seems to have stopped too so hoping for no more scares. I remember having a similar thing at around 16 weeks in my last pregnancy and it's just terrifying.

MintGreenLife · 06/01/2021 13:44

@Newyearsameoldshite two weeks does feel like a long way away. I did have a scan at 7 weeks with the NHS to date the pregnancy as I had irregular cycles after stopping the pill, although I knew when I had ovulated but I guess they can’t take your word for it. Baby was measuring exactly as expected and saw the heartbeat, so at least that was reassuring.

Glad to hear yours has also settled down. It’s really scary, but hopefully not too much of a cause for concern. This is my first so still getting used to all the symptoms and wondering if it’s all normal! X

My bleeding has started again. It was just pink spotting yesterday but is red blood now. Can’t believe this is happening. EPU have said they still won’t see me and they are going to call me again tomorrow to see how I’m getting on 😢

MintGreenLife · 06/01/2021 15:49

@startedearlytookmycats hi, hope you’re OK today? Hope you don’t mind me getting in touch again. Was just wondering if your bleeding has settled down? I’ve started bleeding bright red blood today with some small stringy dark bits and am obviously really worried. EPU at the mo are still saying they won’t see me for now and to just see how things go 😢 x

OP posts:
littleeggcup · 06/01/2021 16:24

Are you able to book for a private scan?

MintGreenLife · 06/01/2021 16:32

@littleeggcup I have thought about that and looked at the available appointments online, but then wonder if that’s kind of silly if the reason EPU are trying to keep you out unless absolutely necessary is to try to limit Covid risk x

OP posts:
catnoir1 · 06/01/2021 18:02

I had this at 11 weeks and all was well op. I booked a private scan. They couldn't find the source of the bleed but the baby was fine. She's nearly 2.

MintGreenLife · 06/01/2021 18:27

@catnoir1 thanks so much, it’s really helpful to hear other people had the same and still had a positive outcome. I guess I’ll just see how the next day or two goes and may book a private scan to check baby is OK x

littleeggcup · 08/01/2021 18:11

How are you?

MintGreenLife · 08/01/2021 19:19

@littleeggcup thanks for reaching out ☺️ I’m ok thanks - I have a scan at EPU tomorrow morning which I’m feeling very anxious for. Last episode of spotting was 4am this morning but had near enough stopped by the time I got up. How are you getting on? X

OP posts:
littleeggcup · 08/01/2021 19:46

I have everything crossed for you, let us know when you can.

I stupidly did a test today and the line was fainter than it was when I first had strong ones so I'm panicking. My scan is on Tuesday at 9am so got a wait x

TopBants · 08/01/2021 19:50

Hope everything is OK, OP.
