Lewisham vs St Thomas for maternity

Sorry for creating another thread on this but I'm looking for more recent experiences so I can make a decision on where to deliver. I'm currently 7+3 weeks and it's my first pregnancy. Will most likely go for an epidural.
Lewisham is the closest to me (10min drive) vs St Thomas (30-40min drive), but I've seen mixed reviews on Lewisham so I'm unsure.

Like a PP, I had an emergency C-section at Lewisham, and it was horrendous. The midwives were terrible, both before and after the birth. Zero after care.
The only good thing was that the surgeons were incredible, and whoever sewed me up afterwards left barely a scar.

Hi I'm 8 weeks and wondering about these two hospitals.
Any recent experiences? Also, I did the self referral form for St Thomas (its been nearly 3 weeks) and no response so far, I'm starting to think that lewisham might be the best option.

I used St thomas in 2015 and 2020 both positive experiences although 2020 was covid so did affect procedures and appointments.

I live down the road from lewisham and am debating whether or not to give it a go!! Ive self referred to St thomas again but would ideally love the convenience of lewisham!

Any recent experiences?

Hi!
I too am about to fill out the self-referral form and am wondering if anyone has any feedback or cares to share their recent experience of Lewisham hospital?

@AMAE89 I had my baby at Lewisham nine weeks ago and was very happy with the whole experience. The community midwives were great, the consultants were helpful and when I actually gave birth every midwife I saw was amazing. They also had student midwives with them so I had two people looking after me for the whole time (it was a long birth). I stayed a night in the ward afterwards and they have feeding consultants on the ward to help get baby feeding.

I had my baby in the ward but I also went and looked around the birthing suite which is in the hospital, midwife led and lovely. If you have no risk factors I'd definitely consider having your baby there.

@malimoon How lovely to hear you had a nice experience at LH. It’s good to know that. :)

I'll be going back to Lewisham for my second one due in 4 weeks :). Hopefully I'll make it to the birth centre this time (was shut due to covid last time). We did a birth centre tour a couple of weeks ago. Highly recommend you do that if you want to check out the space . Instantly felt a sense of peace and calm while I was there, so fingers crossed I can have my baby there. We live 5mins away so choosing lewisham is a no trainer (convenience was my top priority). And I've heard their birth centre is one of the best in London.

I could have written this :) I am also going back to Lewisham for my second and due in 6 weeks :) I also hope for the birth centre, last time I panicked and wasn’t sure I was feeling movements so had to go to labour ward to be monitored… really hope this time will work out! Haven’t visited the BC yet but heard so many good experiences! x
