5 weeks pregnant - Spotting after 2 previous MC

Nuttypea · 04/01/2021 19:07

5 weeks pregnant today, started spotting light pink this evening. Absoloutley heartbroken as this will now be my 3rd MC in 12 months.

Trying to hold on to a little bit of hope as it is not bright red like my miscarriages were and atm no cramping.

I know so many women have spotting and bleeding in early pregnancy and its fine, but I just can't help but feel negative.

My boobs were so sore last night, and I had the strongest line I've ever had on a FRER. Clear blue digital said 2-3 and all was looking promising.

Today my boobs aren't sore at all and it's the first day I've had no cramping.

I don't think I can go through this again 😢

@Nuttypea
You poor thing, I can't imagine how you're feeling.
If it helps I had pink/brown blood at 5 weeks, turned out to be old implantation bleeding, along with probably being too delicate inside & having sex the night before.
Fingers crossed that you wake up tomorrow and you're clear xx

I know that worry well!

I got pregnant just over a month after a MC, I had bleeding at 5 weeks (to be honest I think it might have been straining too hard having a bowel movement ) and a bit of blood at 8 1/2 weeks, which I was convinced was the end but now 13+ weeks and all is well.

leftitlate37 · 04/01/2021 19:33

sorry to hear of your worry @Nuttypea :( i think like the others have said it could be due to something else like implantation bleeding and the fact its not bright red is a good sign.
im 5 weeks today as well having had a previous MMC last year; if it makes u feel any better my boobs havent been sore at all (despite being massively painful from ovulation in first pregnancy!) and my cramps have subsided too now. its a good sign u dont have cramps that have got worse! try to stay positive (easier said than done i know, im a bag of nerves!) and hopefully everything will have cleared up tomorrow :) x

Nuttypea · 04/01/2021 20:49

Thanks for your replies ladies ❤️

@carnations23 I'm glad this pregnancy is going well for you, its surprising how many women have bleeding in pregnancy and it's fine. So hard to think rationally when you are experiencing it yourself!

@leftitlate37 Congratulations! Fingers crossed this is just implantation spotting, but I got my BFP 4 days before AF was due, so surely must of implanted before then. I'm trying to keep positive and convince myself it's a tiny little bean, nestling it's way in tight and cosy for the next 8 months. Maybe we can keep in touch and share the bag of nerves? Will this be your first? 😊 X

Aww @Nuttypea, that sounds so stressful! impossible i know, but try to relax as much as you can. there are so many potential reasons for spotting in pregnancy, so it could be a whole host of things. no cramping is a good sign, hopefully this will clear up and you'll have a relaxing 8 months ahead!
If it helps at all - i'm currently 15 weeks after a mc in the summer and have had so much spotting this pregnancy so far, at 4-5, 7-8, 11-12 and 14-15 weeks! it's the absolute worst and i always fear the worst is happening, but i went for a scan just yesterday and they said everything looked ok - they couldn't find the cause and it might just be one of those things, and there was a little bouncy baby in there! so try to stay positive (honestly i know how hard that is though!)

Nuttypea · 04/01/2021 21:42

Thanks @northerngal20, bless you sounds like you've had a tough time! What an emotional roller-coaster, I'm glad the scan went well! Thanks for sharing your story, hopefully wake up in the morning and it won't be any heavier. I really really was feeling positive this time, and then the spotting started 🤦‍♀️

Sorry OP that you have to go through this. I had 2 MC back to back last year and I’m now in my 2nd trimester. This time I did still spot in the earlier weeks so I rang to get a scan at the EPU (I did check a few) and saw heartbeats. Fingers crossed for you

leftitlate37 · 05/01/2021 07:50

hey @Nuttypea how r things today?? hope spotting stopped and you r feeling ok.
yes this will be our first - what about you?? had been thinking might try and get an early reassurance scan, but given another lockdown im guessing private places wont be open...? (not looked yet!).x

Nuttypea · 05/01/2021 08:14

@Meomeomeo sorry for your losses, but so glad you're pregnancy is going well this time. Its really reasurring to know you still had spotting and everything is going OK.

Can I ask if you noticed any difference between this time and the last 2? I'm sorry if that's too painful and personal x

@leftitlate37 Yesz this will be our first baby, but 3rd pregnancy. We've bene trying for 2 years now, both MC were last year, Feb and August. Spotting has now turned brown, and only light when I wipe. My bobs feel totally fine today tho, and that was the first sign of my last 2 MC. Sudden loss of symptoms. I'm just clinging on to the fact that I am not cramping 🤞🏻Have spoken to local Early pregnancy unit, and because of history they have put me forward to come in for a scan tomorrow.
From experience, I'm sure they won't see anything. I hope they do some blood tests so I can be reasured by any rising HCG.
Hope you're feeling OK! Xx

Sorry for all the typos, although "my bobs" did make me giggle 🤭

leftitlate37 · 05/01/2021 08:50

haha quite like that as affectionate name...ya bobs!
it sounds such a tough ride for you with TTC :( really glad you've got booked in with EPU tomorrow, and hope they can at least do bloods if still too early to see anything on scan. Even that aside, they might be able tell u if there was a just a bit of blood that had come from somewhere else. Be thinking of u tomorrow, and let us know how u get on - keeping everything crossed for u! defo positive no cramping.
ive just rung GP to get booked in with midwife....wasnt sure if could just ring the midwife team was seeing before or what, am all a bit clueless! still feel a bit of a fraud really....weird to think that when had my booking appt last time the baby had already stopped growing :( the appt took ages u kinda think it would be quicker to have a quick scan to see how things are before spending ages going through everything with you which ends up being pointless anyway! x

Nuttypea · 05/01/2021 09:53

@leftitlate37 is this the 8 week booking in appointment? I don't know if its the same for you as all trusts are different, but our NHS has a self-referral form online. Just fill it out and then a midwife called me to arrange the booking in. Obviously its just goer the phone because of Covid. But yeah I know what you mean!

I really bloody envy the women that didn't know they were pregnant until they were 10 weeks or whatever. What a breeze! 😂

I will 100% let you know how it goes x

leftitlate37 · 05/01/2021 09:57

haha i know what u mean, but given xmas i would have carried on eating all the wrong sorts of cheese and working my way thru the prosecco and gin!! perhaps its a good thing found out at this stage ;) but i defo know where youre coming from!
yeah this was for the 8wk booking appt, think the GP is doing it and said id get a call from midwife...well...she didnt say a call, maybe itll be a letter?! kinda hope itll be over the phone and not in person, wonder if they can use all your bloods from last time?! it wasnt THAT long ago!

Meomeomeo · 05/01/2021 12:09

@Nuttypea, this pregnancy, I actually spotted lightly after getting 2-3 weeks on CBD so around 5 weeks. It was just as if my period would start the next day. (Pretty much like the previous MC but they were a bit further along). I was very upset but tested cbd again and to my surprise, it was 3+. Then about a week or over later, I spotted bit more, just like period was coming, even had cramps. this time I rang EPU and got someone to see me. She did a scan and baby was measuring 6+5 with heartbeat.
I did spot again around 16 weeks and after some check up, it was due to ectropion.
Definitely ask for blood test since you’re around 5 weeks. Fingers crossed for you.

yahyahs22 · 05/01/2021 12:22

I bled heavily, cramped and had brown blood too. I thought it was my period and had no idea I was pregnant. My 8 month old sleep intolerant, head ache inducer is currently on the floor making lots of noise.

Nuttypea · 05/01/2021 13:46

@Meomeomeo thanks so much for sharing your experience. That it everything I needed to hear! Glad all is going good with you! When are you due? Xx

OP posts:
Meomeomeo · 06/01/2021 12:45

I’m due in May. How are you doing today @Nuttypea

Nuttypea · 06/01/2021 17:06

A lot better thanks @Meomeomeo they confirmed the pregnancy with the scan, and could see gestational sack and what looks like a teenie tiny yolk. Because I'm so early and the spotting was brown and light which has now stopped, they didn't seem to concerned. They've made me an appointment to go back next Friday for a scan in hopes of seeing a bit more. They did my bloods and will repeat them in 48hrs, egaer tos ee what HCG level.

Feeling much more positive today!

OP posts:
Meomeomeo · 06/01/2021 18:44

That’s fantastic. Fingers crossed you get to hear the heartbeat next week. I think back then they said to me it could still be implantation bleeding in the 5-7 weeks stage. Good they are doing your blood test too.

Nuttypea · 06/01/2021 20:05

@Meomeomeo thanks so much for checking in! Means a lot ❤️

How are things with you? Did you book an early scan in the end, and the booking appointment? Xx

OP posts:
leftitlate37 · 15/01/2021 20:01
