Gahhh I had a feta with date May 2021, so well within date. Opened it and thought it smelt a bit weird, tasted and swallowed a small corner and it was fine. Looked up and it said if any doubt re. Smell don't eat it.

I have thrown the rest out and rinced my mouth out but now panicking I've harmed my 4+4 pregnancy!
Have been incredibly rational up until now. Blahhhh

@Birchtree4 if you're 4 weeks pregnant, your baby isn't taking anything from you yet. No placenta/cord etc.

Aquamarine1029 · 04/01/2021 19:13

You have nothing to worry about.

Birchtree4 · 04/01/2021 19:15

Amazing, thanks so much for reassurances.
Now back to being zen!

@cat709 and @Aquamarine1029 when will it start taking nutrients from me? Do you have a good website that will explain?
Thanks

You have just experienced a perfectly normal pregnancy panic over nothing. It's a key milestone!

cat709 · 04/01/2021 19:20

@Birchtree4
I know it sounds obvious, but every week I have been following the pregnancy nhs site... it's been very accurate on symptoms and good advice.
One thing I'd really advise on.. anything pregnancy related you google (I.e, can I eat Brie, can I swim etc) always put "U.K." after it. So that it pulls just U.K. sites up. Don't read any sites from the US. They're ridiculous.
Good luck and stay calm :) xx

The danger (which is probably tiny!) is more that you'll get food poisoning because your immune system is a bit compromised when pregnant and that can potentially be dangerous. If you're fine, there's nothing to worry about plus cheese is unlikely to cause any issues given it is basically 'off' anyway!

Everything smelt and tasted a bit off to me in early pregnancy!
