Hello 👋
I finally got my BFP after 11 months of TTC.
I am 4 weeks at the moment so very early on still. This is my first baby and I don't know whether I should let my GP know yet or wait another few weeks? What did you do?

Congratulations OP!

It's completely up to you, I think I told my GP at 5 weeks and they gave me a number to ring to register with the midwives who then arranged my booking appointment for 9 weeks.

Some places don't accept referrals until 6 weeks.

Give them a call when you get chance. It's not urgent and they will be underwhelmingly not bothered, but it's important to let them know.
You'll be booked in with a midwife for around 9 weeks pregnant for your booking appointment where they go into detail about family history etc. Then they will arrange your 12 week scan.
Congratulations op, take it easy

Congratulations! I'd call GP this week to find out what the procedure is in your area. Given current situation, it may take longer than normal to get booking appointment through, so probably better to get the ball rolling sooner rather than later.

Congratulations! 🥰

In my area you don’t need to tell the GP, just need to self-refer to the midwifery team from 6 weeks onwards. Because it varies so much by area I’d give them a ring just to discuss what the procedure is in your area ☺️

Brilliant, thanks everyone I'll give them a call tomorrow just to let them know ☺️☺️

I'm in NI and we book directly with the hospital via an online form

I had my 12 week scan in the hospital - DH was able to attend, and the lovely midwife finished off my booking on the phone 🙂

Congratulations xo

I self referred to the maternity department at my local hospital when I was about 5 weeks, they had an online form to fill out. I know it's not the same everywhere but it's maybe worth checking.

Congratulations!

PinkDaffodil2 · 03/01/2021 16:31

Congratulations! Depending on where you are you may not need to tell your GP so check the website for your closest hospital, there should be a page on there which tells you how to self refer or asks you to tell your GP.
It’s

If you google your city name and the word prenatal you'll be able to find your local services which may have a self referral route like this

Huge congratulations.

I'd wait a couple of weeks and then self refer to midwife. GP shouldn't need to see you but the surgery will keep you right.

SnooperTrooper12345 · 03/01/2021 17:37

Congratulations.
I waited until around 6/7 weeks to call.
Especially if you've not missed your period yet
