Hi everyone, thought this would be the best place for this as most will have had a bfp recently.

We have been ttc for 10 months now with no luck. We are going to give it 3 more months before looking into investigations etc so I wanted to give us both the best chance possible, what would you say made the difference the month you got your bfp?

@DollyParton2

I swear by Conceive Plus OP- it’s like preseed.

Use good quality OPKs it’s worth investing in the digital ones, the cheapo ones were useless for me.
DTD every day you get smiley, twice on first day & also day after smiley too.

Are you taking - Ubiquinol, Soy Isoflavones, Evening Primrose?

If you cycles are at all irregular also take Angus cactus.

If you're going to take this advice, make sure you really do your own research first. COQ10 is fine (I did take that too), but particularly research soy isoflavs and Agnes cactus before taking them. I bought Angus cactus and looked into soy isoflavs too, but decided against taking both.

Have only ever used preseed twice, and conceived both times. I put my legs in the air afterwards too, joking that it was the only thing we had left to try (2 years of TTC), and it may have been a coincidence but it may also have done the trick 😂

Jamill87 · 02/01/2021 17:19

Thanks all, have been reading through them, keep them coming Grin

I am definitely going to order some preseed tonight and give that a go. Vitamins wise I just take folic acid and have recently started vit D too.

The month we conceived I ovulated earlier than I expected so I would recommend having plenty of sex outside of your fertile window. I’d been using opks and tracking ovulation on an app and expected to ovulate around 14 days after my period as usual. While we were TTC I was only drinking alcohol on my period but wanted to have a wine night with my best friend on zoom around a week after my period ended. I took a cheapy Amazon pregnancy test to doubly make sure I wasn’t pregnant before drinking but because they look so similar to the opks I accidentally checked whether I was ovulating. Turns out I was and I wouldn’t have known had I waited for my usual fertile window a week later. This was on a Sunday and we had sex Friday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Good luck for next month!

Clearblue Bluetooth ovulation kit, conceive plus and SMEP method x

DollyParton2 · 02/01/2021 17:46

Daffodil21 I did my research. They work. Currently pregnant with DC3 so I do know what I’m talking about!

Iknewyouwerewaitingforme · 02/01/2021 17:46

Conceive Plus is better than preseed IMO.

sundowners · 02/01/2021 17:53

Some really good, helpful well researched advice here. Would echo the ConceivePlus, staying in bed afterwards (but then go for a wee to help prevent UTI).
Women going for IVF are told to take Ubiquinol to improve egg quality so definitely recommended. I'd be looking into more supplements than you are currently taking.
Are your cycles at all irregular? If so Agnus Cactus/Soy Isolfavens ARE game changers. Key is to just take up to/during ovulation and then stop during the 2 week wait! Then you're fine.
Evening Primrose as DollyParton says also is great for improving cervical mucus too x

Jamill87 · 02/01/2021 18:14

I have just ordered preseed, wish I'd have gone for conceive plus now but will see how I get on. I have ordered dp some supplements too, he had a b12 deficiency recently and had to have injections so have got him some b12 vitamins too. I tend to not move after dtd and not go to the toilet till the morning Blush

I will look at better opks too, looks like some people ovulated earlier and later than thought so will try and dtd every other day.

I used cheapie OPKs and the PreMom app together with BBT on the month I conceived (after approx 6 months). My cycles are not regular so needed to track and couldn't justify CB tests. DH was more regimental about taking his vitamins and also cut down on alcohol consumption (only has a beer or one glass of wine of an evening but reduced to just weekends).
Not sure which exactly made the difference but I'd like to think all of them did.x

Jamill87 · 02/01/2021 18:19

My cycles are a bit different each month last month was 25 days and this month 29 but 2 months before that were 27. Digital opks do seem quite pricey and not sure I fully know what I am doing with them yet.

I lost weight. If you're at all overweight I'd recommend it. Once within normal weight range got pregnant straight away. After 5 years if trying. Then pregnant again in 11 months by accident .

pringlebells · 02/01/2021 18:28

I've fell pregnant twice this year. Both times I've been eating healthy. (As opposed to eating terrible during most cycles) I seem to fall pregnant when I'm eating extra healthy.

I used the Ovia app, I used cheap ovulation strips from Amazon and DTD on most fertile days.

DH has low motility and poor sperm count and quality, we took 4 years ttc before we had ivf. Two rounds of ivf we had our son.

We fell pregnant naturally for the first time during me post lockdown diet in July but unfortunately we had a MC.

We continued to TTC and I started another diet/healthy eating in October and by November I conceived.

Jamill87 · 02/01/2021 18:29

@Mylittlepony374 I could do with losing some lockdown weight, it's on the list 😁

@DollyParton2

Daffodil21 I did my research. They work. Currently pregnant with DC3 so I do know what I’m talking about!
I'm not saying they don't work. I'm just saying it's irresponsible to be spouting out advice like that when some of these are supplements that need serious consideration.
Daffodil21 · 02/01/2021 18:41

@DollyParton2 sorry, that was unnecessarily rude of me, not sure what came over me! Congratulations on your pregnancy. TTC really is a minefield!

DollyParton2 · 02/01/2021 20:53

Daffodil21 no worries- I think we’re all allowed to be a bit ‘off’ at the moment, I know I am.
Also second you, any supplements need carefully looking into. I just know for a fact that Angus cactus really helped regulate my cycles and it was only after taking it, I then conceived all times. Just wanted to share that x

JTB123 · 02/01/2021 22:44

Conceive plus 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼

Allicit · 02/01/2021 23:32

@Jamill87 the best thing we did was to stop trying. We stopped for a month and I had some fertility reflexology weekly with a friend and just focused on chilling out about it because it had become stressful and very 'heavy' then the next month we started again but every 2 to 3 days - didn't if we didn't feel like it and really had a lot of fun and laughter doing it and voila! Baby that month. Best advice I could ever give is to cut yourselves some slack. Maybe even a nice weekend away somewhere if covid rules allow.

RBF92 · 03/01/2021 07:14

Another fan of conceive plus lubricant here! We were trying for 9 months and conceived the first month we used it! Didn't take any extra supplements other than folic acid either.

Also agree with people saying about DTD outside of your ovulation window. We were using the Flo app and we DTD every day until the end of my fertile window and then had a break for a few days but I actually ovulate 4/5 days after what the app was telling me and that definitely adds up because the month we conceived we also didn't have a break after my fertile window (according to Flo) so still keep it up for the whole month pretty much WinkGrin

welshladywhois40 · 03/01/2021 07:51

Ok my advice might be a bit more left field but it has worked for me

If you use lube - check if hasn't got any spermicide in it

Mans diet - my partner ate more tomatoes and celery leading up to my fertile days - doesn't increase sperm but increases the carrying liquid - so helps transport

Lastly orgasm order - you come last - apparently if you orgasm after him the cervix goes and grabs the sperm up.

LittleTiger007 · 03/01/2021 11:46

Sex every three days. Making sure he had plenty of good swimmers. We had sex two days before ovulation. I then lay flat with legs up for 20 mins.

I had had difficulty conceiving and 6 weeks before the time I conceived I had a hysteroscopy procedure in hospital. They go in with a camera under general anaesthetic. They found a large fibroid and some endometriosis and they removed both. They had not shown up on scans and were preventing pregnancies from sticking - so I am so glad I had this done! If things don’t happen for much longer I suggest you request a hysteroscopy to check all is well inside your uterus. I’m currently 20 weeks pregnant.

LittleTiger007 · 03/01/2021 11:50

I also used a clear blue ovulation kit.

Jamill87 · 03/01/2021 12:30

@LittleTiger007 I recently had a colonoscopy due to an area the doctor was concerned with when I was seen with bleeding mid cycle, they said everything looked fine though I had abnormal cells taken away in 2017 and they said they had taken a lot away but all looked fine to get pregnant.

I have ordered preseed but wishing I'd have gone with conceive plus, although imagine will work the same

With my first it took us 4 months, I used preseed and lay on the bed afterwards,. I found neither of these worked. The month we conceived I took benylin for the guaifenesin. I also tracked ovulation with clearblue ovulation sticks for months! This time I didn't do anything other than know when I was ovulating by using the clearblue sticks, and we dtd 2 days before ovulation.

Which benylin did you take?
