Hi everyone, I’ve just suffered a miscarriage 3 days ago when I should have been 11 weeks - ultrasound scan showed the pregnancy had stopped at 8 weeks, I have also miscarried 3 years ago. I’m incredibly nervous to get pregnant again but also want to try again immediately as having a baby is all me and my husband want right now. Any advice on how long it could take us/chances of a successful pregnancy next time? Anyone been in the same position? Any advice would be very much appreciated x

Hello. I’m currently 9 weeks pregnant. For the last 3 days (started off as spotting) but has now began to get heavier more like a period, and I’ve lost about 7 blood clots all bright red in colour. One was almost the size of my palm. My question is could this be a miscarriage or is it possible I could still have a healthy baby in there? I can’t get an ultrasound until Monday due to it being a weekend and the lady was on holiday over Christmas

@Rachelball033 sorry to hear you're going through this. Really hard to tell as it can go either way. How frequently are you changing pads? Can you go to A&E? You will be scanned there. Hope there's someone at home with you.

Sending you lots of strength.xxx

Hi Rachel, my advice would be to follow your gut instinct - you know deep down whether you have lost the baby or if you still feel pregnant. That said, hope and positivity is also a wonderful thing which can help get through these tough days. There are a few forums on here where women tell you of their great success stories where they had bled but still had successful pregnancirs so it is not all always bad news. NHS 111 sent me for an urgent scan because I was getting mild cramps too. Perhaps they can send you for one? I hope everything goes well for you. X

If you miscarried within days of your missed period / finding out your pregnant, your body would not have produced enough hcg to stay in your system for a month so I’d say you’re pregnant!

Hi @leftitlate37 yeah I have become to realise more people have gone through it than I think and this thread has really helped me. Congratulations on your pregnancy, I understand your anxiety I feel I will be exactly the same if I get pregnant again, my close friends and family tell me to try and be positive but it’s so hard not to worry.
Wishing you all the best with the pregnancy hope all goes well for you! X

Thank you everyone for all your comments, I really feel it has got me through this week to be honest. My husband has been wonderful and has been by my side through it all but speaking to people who are either going through similar or been through it previously definitely helps me mentally. It’s been a week now since I MC and I would say today is the first day I feel more myself. My cramps have stopped and my bleeding is pretty much non existent now which is good. Just waiting for a negative test. Took one yesterday and it was positive so will wait a few days and try again. My concern now is when to start taking ovulation tests? I am already getting a bit of CM but unsure whether that’s just post MC. I read you can ovulate as early as two weeks after which would mean next weekend but I’m worried the ovulation test may pick up some HCG and confuse me into thinking I’m ovulating. Any advice regarding this?

@Mishmased sorry to hear you are nervous in your pregnancy, I think it’s expected isn’t it after a bad experience. Glad you are more relaxed now you are further along ☺️ I haven’t had any blood tests no I was just going to do pregnancy tests I’ve just got some cheap ones at home - do you think I should have a blood test instead?

They say you count day one of mc as a normal period so go with that. Your hcg levels may take longer to come down as you were a bit further along than 6 weeks. Can you request a blood test from the epu? Hcg under 5 is a sign of no pregnancy. What is the consistent envy of the cm? It sort of changes from cottage cheese to egg white (apologies if tmi). Give it a few more days and test again. Also keep an eye on the cm.

Mishmased · 03/01/2021 14:17

Crossed posts @MrsD1992 yes if you can get bloods done at hospital you sort of know where you stand. Two days after my mc started my hcg levels was 25, two days after that it was 6. Hospital said no need for another as it is close to 5 and I think the next day or two I tested negative. Great you're getting cm though, that's a good sign.
