Hi all!

Has anyone been on that pill before and if so, how long did it take you until you had a bfp once you stopped taking it?

Thanks!! :)

Hi. I was on this pill for 10 y. I came off and we TTC for 12m/10 cycles. But I did have a borderline smear during this time so I’m not sure the pill had anything to do with the length of time it took.

I never went back on the pill, or any hormonal contraception and my next two pregnancies I fell on the first cycle. But again this could be completely unrelated.

BalaamsAss · 30/12/2020 13:06

I was on microgynon for over 10 years, minus some stretches for pregnancy and breast feeding. I had 3 pregnancies during that period. First two times I came off the pill, had 2 normal periods and then fell pregnant on my next cycle. Third time I only had one normal period and then fell pregnant on my second cycle.

I ended up switching when we moved abroad and when we got back to the UK, my GP no longer prescribed microgynon so I was switched to Rigevidon and have been on that ever since. I preferred Microgynon

notinthestarsigns · 30/12/2020 13:08

I was taking it for years before my first pregnancy and fell pregnant within a couple of months.

Keha · 30/12/2020 13:09

I was on it for a few months (implant prior to that). Was lucky to become pregnant two months after stopping taking it.

SingingSands · 30/12/2020 13:10

I missed a couple when we moved house and fell pregnant with my DD!

BadgeronaMoped · 30/12/2020 13:11

I took it for 9 years and fell pregnant before having my first natural period when I came off it.

Echobelly · 30/12/2020 13:14

I was taking before both pregnancies - 1st time I had a bfp within about 6 weeks Shock I think we conceived literally our first considered go at it!

Second time, it was about 4-5 months, my periods never stabilised in that time, I had a few small, irregular bleeds in the months before bfp.

10 months.

Thanks all! That’s reassuring ☺️ I keep freaking out that the pill makes us less fertile but that’s obviously not true at all 🤣 my DP and I will most likely start TTC at some point in 2021 :) we wanted to start now but because of covid our jobs are very much at risk (we work in travel for me, and hospitality for him), so it’s wiser for us to wait until things settle a bit more and our jobs feel safer first before making a baby. If one of us is made redundant it would just be a disaster financially

Thanks :) which non-hormonal contraception did you use after your first pregnancy? I’d love to come off the pill as well but I’m scared to fall pregnant with the withdrawal method or condoms

I was on microgynon for 15 years and was pregnant within a month or two of stopping.

blodyn91 · 30/12/2020 14:07

4 cycles.
I would come off and start tracking your cycles ☺️ you would only need to use a condom for the days leading up to ovulation. Just incase it takes longer for your body to adjust

Iamsodonewith2020 · 30/12/2020 14:09

Fell pregnant on it

MrsB2019x · 30/12/2020 15:00

I was on Microgynon for about 12/13 years, stopped taking it in October 2019 and fell pregnant April 2020

SunnySideUp2020 · 30/12/2020 15:34

I was on it for years. Stopped it ans fell pregnant 10 days later - no period.
Sadly miscarried.
Then took us another 7 months before a bfp.

Good luck!

Jurassiclover · 30/12/2020 17:27

I was on it for 8 years, fell pregnant 3rd cycle after stopping which was sadly a MC. It's then taken over a year to get another BFP and currently just about to go for 1st scan

Csx99 · 30/12/2020 17:32

I was on it for 4 years, fell pregnant the first cycle I came off it

MsHedgehog · 30/12/2020 17:38

I was on it for 8 years, the depo injection for two years before that and before the depo the Mycrogynon again for 2 years.

I came off it in November 2019 to give my body time to get back to normal before we TTC. We started TTC in June 2020 and I got pregnant on the second cycle.

Vitaminsss · 30/12/2020 17:42

Haha I got worried for a sec after reading the title, thought you were going to issue a warning!

I was on it as a teen, took a break for 6 months and then switched to the depo. My periods came back virtually instantly.

Twixmas · 30/12/2020 17:44

Back in 2005 I came off it and it took 6 months for my periods to return.

ChanklyBore · 30/12/2020 17:46

I was on it for seven years before TTC for #1 and it took me 23 months to conceive my first pregnancy.

I have TTC three further times after that, conceived on the first try twice, and on the second month the other time. I have also been pregnant accidentally. So I’d say actually I’m pretty fertile and the first was a bit of an anomaly, make if it what you will, I don’t think there are any actual answers. Good luck

maureenfrombarnsley · 30/12/2020 17:49

I'm in my 30s and only ever used that pill. With both of my children I've fallen pregnant first month off it.

TheDaydreamBelievers · 30/12/2020 17:53

2 cycles / 6mo - pill didnt reduce fertility but it did take me a long time to ovulate after coming off it (approx 128 days)

Meredusoleil · 30/12/2020 17:57

I ws in it for donkeys years. It was my favourite form of contraception tbh! Wish I was still on it.

Took 1 month to conceive dd1 and 5 months to conceive Dd2 (but with only 1 ovary, so obviously harder).

Weirdfan · 30/12/2020 17:59

I fell pregnant the first time whilst taking it, I'd been sick once and not immediately after taking it so didn't think it would affect but it clearly did! Second pregnancy I'd only been off it 2 months as well, hope that helps OP.
