When did you feel movement with anterior placenta?

It’s my first baby, I’m 16+5 and have an anterior placenta. I’ve been getting a sensation of bubbles popping for a few days lower down my stomach, and a more obvious fluttering feeling this evening. It feels different to gas. Is this likely to be baby? I thought it would be much later with it being my first and anterior, but also aware that gas can be mistaken for movement Blush

Can I hear when you first felt movement, even just the flutters, if you had an anterior placenta?

I an 17+4 and have an anterior placenta so will be keen to see what people say.. I haven't felt any movement yet, sometimes think I can feel flutters but not sure! X

WalkingMeAway · 29/12/2020 20:40

I was 23w! I remember going to my 20 week scan at 22w and the baby was bouncing all over the place and I couldn’t feel a thing! Was so surreal.

First movements do feel like butterfly flutters/pops so might be !

fassnk · 29/12/2020 20:43

I only ever felt pops, and later into pregnancy the occasional roll. Very surreal to see the baby moving like mad at the scans i couldnt feel a thing!

Stef92 · 29/12/2020 20:51

I could feel little tickle like movements but nothing definitive until after 21/22 weeks. Was weird seeing him move around on the 20 week scan and I was feeling nothing. I'm now 32 weeks and he is so active

DiabeticFirstBaby · 29/12/2020 20:54

19 weeks i could feel bubbles popping, feelings have increased each week, 21 weeks now and can deff feel good kicks at times. sometimes strong, sometimes a bit weaker but can deff feel her moving.

Candycats · 29/12/2020 21:18

I had an anterior placenta and felt movement at 17 weeks (first baby). It felt like a muscle twitching at first! But then turned into proper movement. So it's not outside the realms of possibility that you have felt something!

Milkand2sugarsplease · 29/12/2020 21:23

My DS had an anterior placenta and that didn't stop me feeling the flutters and pops lower down earlier on - especially when my bladder was full. It was the more definite movement later that the placenta masked as they were cushioned by the placenta.

This time I've felt the flutters and pops earlier - from 15 weeks onwards, but knew what I was looking for from last time.

21 weeks with my second baby. Anterior placenta. I still barely feel anything.

DearTeddyRobinson · 29/12/2020 21:28

Yup the flutters that feel like farts, they're the baby!!

DearTeddyRobinson · 29/12/2020 21:41

Sorry should have said, about 16/17 weeks with anterior placenta

Passthewinebottle · 29/12/2020 21:41

I had anterior placenta with first baby and I was about 22 weeks with first flutters. Posterior placenta with baby 2 & was about 17 weeks x

Missannelliot · 29/12/2020 21:52

The night before my 20 week scan.

grandmasterstitch · 29/12/2020 22:01

I'm almost 23 weeks and getting definite kicks down low. I'm hoping to feel more over the next couple of weeks

RhubarbFizz · 29/12/2020 22:07

22 weeks

KJB2020 · 29/12/2020 22:11

I have an anterior placenta and currently 29 weeks pregnant and first pregnancy. I started to feel flutters and slight movement low down between 18-20 weeks. Movements became stronger from 22-26 week but remained very low. Now since week 27 I’m feeling a lot stronger kicks and movement all over but still predominantly lower down although starting to feel more at sides and top of bump too.

MooChops89 · 29/12/2020 22:16

Had an anterior placenta with my first, felt her flickering about at 14 weeks. Felt like a goldfish was living in my belly! Never had any problems with reduced movements.
Also had a raised BMI so didn't expect to feel anything so early.

Meomeomeo · 29/12/2020 22:18

19 weeks when I can def say I felt sth that I could believe to be potential movements. Prior to that, I felt things but I couldn’t say if it was sth else

HotDiggidy2017 · 29/12/2020 22:23

21 weeks here, first pregnancy and anterior placenta. I felt the flutters from 16 weeks too, somehow just knew it wasn’t wind! From about 18 weeks it was proper kicks though couldn’t feel with my hand and just a week ago my partner got to feel an actual kick... or maybe a headbutt as I think she had hiccups. Midwife felt a kick during my 20 week scan too. Sounds like you might be pretty similar if you’re already feeling flutters :)

namesnamesnamesnames · 29/12/2020 22:30

Flutters early on and some 'was it, wasn't it' movement before 20 weeks. Actual clear movement was afterwards. That baby was quite small also though.

TheWashingMachine · 29/12/2020 22:38

I had anterior placenta with both my DC. DC1 I literally never felt until the day he was born at 37 +2 which is odd as he has always been active. DC2 felt at about 20 weeks, she kicked non-stop.

WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot1 · 29/12/2020 22:41

I felt the flutters around 16 weeks I think, it was great! Then after a couple of weeks they stopped and I was so worried. But not long later, maybe about a week, I started to feel kicks.
I, too, thought it would have been a later feeling but maybe the fluttering and bubbles are different to feeling the kicks?
As I'm typing this, my little one is kicking around me. I've also had a couple of bouts of "reduced movement" where the kicks and rolls are still there but a lot softer and sometimes not as often. I think this may be due to the placenta but it's so worrying. Thought I would let you know in case this happens to you over the next few months.

Enjoy the feeling, I loved that one 😊

ThirdTimeLuckyIHope · 29/12/2020 22:55

I was wondering this too I'm 18+1 and haven't felt anything yet or at least I don't think I have. I also don't have much of a bump so I'm just feeling anxious but we had a gender scan at 17 weeks and all was good 😌

ShivD · 29/12/2020 22:57

My 4th and 5th babies both had anterior placentas and I didn’t feel movement until past 20 weeks.

I had felt my older three move much earlier than that though.

kittenpeak · 31/12/2020 00:21

Hi @swiftt is this your 1st pregnancy? I was almost 22 weeks when I felt bubbles (could have been gas!) and 23 weeks when I felt a definite kick. Was very strange seeing it kicking like mad at the 20 week scan and not being able to feel a thing.

Are you having your baby privately / had private scans? I didnt think they could confirm for certain as early as 16 weeks, I must be wrong though!

I was told at the 20 week scan that I would struggle to feel movements, and I’ve actually been in 3 times for reduced movements and I’m only 30 weeks. First two times I didn’t feel a thing for 5 days, third time I felt only 3 kicks over a weekend. It was just the baby hiding behind the placenta. Now the baby is getting bigger it’s harder for it to hide so feeling kicks more (but definitely less than friends of mine who have had posterior placentas!)
