So I got an ice cream machine for my birthday today and it just dawned on me that I might not be allowed eat it during pregnancy..
During my last pregnancy I read that uncooked eggs with the lion mark is ok. But now I can't find that Information anywhere.

Does anyone know if I can or cannot eat homemade ice cream?

Don't know about raw eggs sorry, but when I make ice cream I use the eggs to make a sort of custard so they are in fact cooked.

Red lion eggs are okay with runny yolks etc as risk of salmonella is low. Not sure if they means you should eat them raw though.

Eggs that are not stamped can still be eaten but should be cooked through.

Info is on the nhs website

Surely you would make a custard with the eggs, so they’ll be cooked anyway. Smile

You'll be fine, the risk is really low for salmonella these days. Plus like PP have said, I think you make a custard first so the eggs will have been cooked.

Or if you're really worried, make sorbets?

Thanks everyone! I found more Information after posting this from the NHS website that says homemade ice cream is fine.
I noticed someone replied to me saying about the custard, must be why!

Sorry I struggle when using this app. I hate that I can't read back and tag in peopleConfused
