Am I worrying unnecessarily?

Hope you all had a great Christmas (as much as possible with COVID anyway!)

I think I'm probably worrying unnecessarily but as a FTM I am taking the excessive fretting as part of the ride Smile

I'm 20+5 and have been feeling movement since around 17 weeks (posterior placenta) but I haven't felt anything since Christmas Eve. Every scan I have been to, the sonographers have laughed at how active my LO is and one even commented that she was using my womb as a trampoline.

At my 20 week scan, she was snuggled in a ball right into my back so I'm hoping she is doing that... My bump was also MASSIVE for a few days when I felt loads of movement and now it has shrunk right down again.

I know they say not to track movement until 24-28 weeks, just the massive change is concerning me.

Can anyone help settle my mind or am I right to be worried?

Thanks x

If you have felt a change in movements it’s worth calling your Maternity assessment unit and just having a chat with them about it. I don’t think they can do the ctg until 24weeks but They might suggest you Go in and they check you over and baby with a Doppler. Like you said it’s probably just baby curled up having a chill lol but always worth calling and chatting it through, even if just for reassurance!!
Have you tried various tricks like drinking ice cold orange juice then lying on your left side??

Always call if you feel worried.

I agree they say 24 weeks for a pattern bit better safe than sorry.

I haven't tried any tricks yet - I am Type 1 Diabetic so try to avoid the eating/ drinking sugary stuff. I'm at work at the moment but may try a glass of ice cold water and laying down when I get home and if nothing I'll phone the Maternity unit.

I'm usually the most chilled and laid back person - I had no idea I'd become such a nervous nelly during pregnancy Blush

Thank you x

20 weeks is far too early to establish a pattern for movement - most places won't see you until 28 weeks at least. Baby has likely just moved into a different position. I'm having twins and my bump changed shape a lot around that time as the babies changed position

Thanks all, as if she has heard me worrying, I have felt her wriggling away while sat at my desk this morning Halo

Hi @Tigerlily08

I’m 18+4 and also posterior placenta. I literally wrote the same post about 2 days ago Grin

Have also had the bouncy comments from scans (I have had a few as I’m anxious all the time - so ridiculous). I feel movement every day but since Christmas eve, I hadn’t felt anything. Sure enough, this morning, I had an almighty boot and lots of swirling since.

I think it’s because Xmas eve/day, I was busy and also surviving xmas with M-I-L haha. Now I’m home and relaxed, it’s all started back up :).

Try and relax, I am sure all will be fine! Xxxxx
