Do anybody else's 5 month olds still wake up multiple times a night? I honestly feel like I still have a newborn...

He used to sleep 6pm - 5am most nights, now for weeks he's been up constantly. I'm so tired 🤷‍♀️ any help would be massively appreciated

Teething? Reflux? When mine had these she was awake a lot

Flumo · 27/12/2020 02:25

Sorry no help but my boy is the same 😪

@HollsLolls he is teething at the moment and it does seem to have coincided with that.. but I just think if it was his teeth hurting he'd wake up upset but he honestly just winges and winges until I get him out of his bed and let him lay on mine then he just lays there talking to himself and shouting! I don't interact with him so I haven't taught him it's play time 🤷‍♀️ this goes on for hours every night!!

@Flumo glad someone else feels the same! Give us strength 😩😂

Babies hit a massive sleep regression between 4-6 months and can go from sleeping well to waking every sleep cycle (45 min - 1 hr).

They need to learn to fall asleep/resettle themselves it's why the HV tells you those seemingly mythical words put them down drowsy but awake....... 🙄

There are some sleep methods which help there is the gentle sleep solution by Sarah Orwell or the book by Lucy Wolfe

Sleep regression. They grow out of it but it's hellish.

Sleep regression possibly, keep to your routine.
Try some paracetamol or ibuprofen in case it is his gums that are sore though.

Following for any advice... I feel your pain! My son is 6 months oldand has been waking every hour since he hit the sleep regression at 16 weeks Sad

With my dd, her 4 month sleep regression meant waking every 45 mins - an hour until she was 15 months. Then one night she slept through and hasn't looked back.

5 months is very very early to be sleeping through generally. Adjusting your expectations may help slightly (helped me).

Ditto sleep regression. My son used to wake continually through the night at this stage.

What helped - his own room at 6 months. Once he got to his own room he started sleeping 4 hour stretches which after 1 hour bouts was amazing.

Until we were ready to put him in his own room we just survived. Once a fortnight my partner gave me the night off. My partner used to get up with him at 6 so I could sleep in for another hour.
