Hi there

Just wondering what to expect at this appointment really? I’ve been told it will be at home. The rate in my local area is absoloutely horrendous for Covid. We didn’t get to see family over Christmas due to the one family rule so stepped back for bil and sil to see pils even though we had been isolating ready (we are being quite careful) and just generally following rules. I have my mat b 1 form already and at present have no concerns. Just wondering what it tends to involve and whether it may be likely to be moved to a phone appointment instead. Thanks

It will probably be an in person appointment. It's usually blood pressure, a urine dipstick test, fundal height (measurements with a tape measure from the pubic bone to the top of the uterus which helps measure how baby is growing in line with your weeks) and possibly hearing the baby's heartbeat with a handheld Doppler. A little chat, possibly talking about a glucose tolerance test in a few weeks and that's about it.

Hi there, I'm in RCT S.Wales and originally my 25 wk appointment was going to be at a health centre however the midwife contacted to explain it would be a home visit a week or so later than originally scheduled.

She arrived with mask, apron and gloves. I ventilated our living room, window open and wore my mask. She was here about and 1hr/ hour and half. Talked about how I was feeling, c section procedure, birth plan, kicks/movements and went through questions I had.

She then took my blood pressure and urine and explained next app on 29th for glucose test at hospital.
She has since been in contact to confirm another appointment- planned for health centre in January.

Baby's heart rate wasn't measured or fundal height, which I did find a little strange as I did mention at the time that I felt "small"/not showing -(he is however kicking often and that has since changed these last few weeks!)

Hope this helps.

Hi, I'm almost 29 weeks and live in NPT. When I attended my 25 week appointment it was at the medical centre, midwife checked my urine sample, took my blood pressure and checked the baby's heartbeat with the Doppler. She said they don't measure your bump until the 28 week appointment. We had a general chat about how I was feeling and birth place options. It was a quick one x
