Hi ladies, just wanting to see anyone's ultrasounds that have been at 6 weeks. I'm due mine next week after a very scary first few weeks. We're hoping to see baby and I'd like to have a clue of what little lentil is going to be like.

What gestation do you think you'll be exactly? A day or two either side of 6 weeks can make a huge difference? I had one at 6+2 to rule out an ectopic- we saw twins! - basically two sacs, fetal poles and my notes said heart activity was detected although they didn't say what the heart rate was

At 6 weeks you can't really see anything, a blob if you are lucky. I wouldn't have a 6 week scan unless there is a medical need eg you have a suspected ectopic. Wait until 8 weeks, you still won't see anything beyond a blob but you'll know for sure if there is a heartbeat. You are likely to cause more worry having a scan at 6 weeks if you are a week out on dates and there's nothing there.

I had a six week scan a few weeks ago because I was worried I was miscarring. Thankfully I wasn't. It was an internal exam, you don't get to see much at that stage I saw the sac and where it was but it looks empty. But it wasn't! Good luck on your scan. I have a 9 week one in a few days.

This is mine at 6 weeks. You really can’t see much. Gestational sac, yolk sac and fetal pole. I could also see a heartbeat flicker on screen.

Thanks ladies. I have a pretty ropey history including ectopic and missed miscarriages. We've already had bloods and a scan as it was suspected ectopic, however on Xmas Eve we saw the gestational sac but nothing in there. I really have no idea on my dates as I was on the pill so this baby is a totally surprise to us. I suspect from when we had sex I'm going to be 6 weeks +1 maybe a day either way but not certain.

I had an early scan at 6+1 back in the summer, here’s a photo. Not very exciting literally just a little blob but everything was where it was meant to be and we also saw the heartbeat flickering. That was the key for me, after a previous MC I was desperate to see a heartbeat. Now 31 weeks and on countdown to meeting our little boy.
Good luck Smile

Hi ladies little update.

I went for the follow up scan today and my gestational sac had quadrupled in size but still no view of baby. We saw a yolk sac but I was dated at 5w 6 days. Was quite disappointed as I really thought I'd see a little heartbeat, but the sonography wasn't worried at all and said that's exactly what she'd expect from last week and at this stage. And it's a very old machine... so another follow up in 2 weeks, hopefully we'll see much much more at this stage 🤞🏼

Was it an internal scan?
Between 5 and 6.5 weeks can be normal to start seeing a heartbeat. It all depends.

I had an internal scan at 6+2 and they could only just see a heartbeat said I'd it was a few days earlier, they probably wouldn't have been able to see it

Yeah was internal. It was a really old machine too. My last scan it didn't pick up the sac at all, so they moved me to the new one and found it straight away. I think maybe if they scanned me on there it might have picked up more. But they were really positive about progress so just another wait now
