Is having breast milk before a positive test a sign of pregnancy

Hello everyone

This is a bit strange. I am due my period today (23/12) so far nothing but I've had a few symptoms.

Around the time of ovulation I had severe back ache, and one night I had a random sharp twinge in my left side that lasted seconds (last time this happened I found out I was pregnant). Also, no appetite, I am only managing dry and bland food. I have completely gone off chicken. Ever since around the time of ovulation and until now I've been feeling off. Sometimes I'm really tired I could sleep all day. Sometimes I have full energy. Suddenly last night I was having a shower and noticed at first what looks like the colour of colostrum from both my breasts, after this the colour changed to white, the way milk looks. Since the sharp twinge my breats have been tingly and sometimes sore every single day. I've done some tests which have been negative but according to my app I'm testing too early. I've also been having discharge which sometimes dries up. Yesterday it was milky white and today is clear and sticky.

My last period was 27/11, and lasted 7 days. My cycles are 26 days and have been for the last 6 months.

Please if you read this don't run, I've already got two children, youngest is 5 year old and I stopped breastfeeding him at 6 months. For my first child, my first sign of being pregnant was a breast change. Also my areolas look bigger, and slightly darker.

If anyone has experience or advise, please let me know xxx

I've said to myself if I don't get a positive in the next week or two and still no period then I'll be going to see my Dr.

Thank you all xxx

It’s possible but most people would get a clear positive test on day period is due, not sure why your app is saying it’s too early ? Unless you ovulated later in your cycle ?

Not sure about milk being a signing of pregnancy. It could be! Many mums who are still breastfeeding find they dry up during pregnancy but that may be later. I sympathise, maddening not knowing. I'd take a test tomorrow first thing when you get up. Apparently that can help to get a result. What are you hoping for? Good luck Xmas Smile

Leaking breasts is not a sign of early early pregnancy. It can be a sign of high prolactin. Please see your gp.

Doesn't mean you aren't pregnant, just that this would be coincidental.

Walkingmeaway-i think I probably did ovulate late. It would have been between 9-11 December according to app. With previous pregnancy I was around 3 days late when I got a positive, so I guess I'm not out until the witch shows up.

Goingtogetfit-i last breastfed 5 years ago. I'm not sure either but I've read a woman had it as a sign on her third pregnancy. So I don't know its a possibility. Our bodies can be unpredictable.

Physicskate-i will be seeing the GP if AF doesn't show in a week or so and still getting negatives.

Thank you all

I don't know about before a positive test...but I know if you've got other kids the milk is supposed to come in quicker. I had a cp and milk came in after, I was shocked

Hi Shelbyrae

Thanks for replying.
I'm assuming a cp is a chemical pregnancy. Well I've had mixed views, some say impossible other say possible. One person has told me with her first 2 she had milk later but for her third she had it around the same time I'm having and it also depends on your milk supply, like how good your supply is. I'm like a cow lol, and have been with both children. AF still not arrived, having very light cramping but doesn't feel like pms cramping, slight backache. Also my discharge is still here which isn't usual, its clear discharge when I wipe. Time will tell I guess.

Sorry meant to say the lady who told me she had milk said she didn't have it with her first 2, but she did have it with her 3rd, the same time as I am now. And it was a sign for her. I'm due today but nothing yet.

Have you taken a FRER test?

kim160790 · 23/12/2020 22:39

36+2 here with baby #4 and it was one of my first signs this time!! It's what made me give in and test. I had so many other symptoms but thought nope all in my head but couldn't ignore the colostrum and had my bfp same day 😊 xx

Teakind · 23/12/2020 22:49

Another one saying it could be high prolactin levels so to check with your GP.

I’ve had a negative pregnancy test today am 3 days late, been having a few symptoms, has this happened to anyone who found out they were expecting later?
