Would GD have been picked up at 28 weeks blood test?

Hello,

My midwife sent me for a full blood count test at my 28 weeks appt. It came back with slight iron deficiency, I was just wondering if they'd also check for gestational diabetes?

No GD is a fasting glucose test that they only do if you have a risk factor or glucose shows up in your urine. My GD wasn't picked up until 32 weeks

They can do a GD blood test but it would be separate from your full blood count. Your mw would have told you they were doing it and asked you what time you last ate.

GD for me wasn't picked up until 40 weeks

Our trust isn't doing the fasting glucose test anymore due to Covid. It is done by blood tests at several different stages of pregnancy. I imagine many are the same.

My trust are doing the HBA1C which is just a blood test - no drink or fasting. Due to COVID.
Although I don’t know if they are doing it for everyone or just people with risk factors?
