Hi all!

This is my first time trying for a baby so I don't really know what to expect, but I'm a bit worried that my period is over 10 days late but I'm still getting negatives tests. Not even a hint of a line. I believe I am 26 days post ovulation unless I ovulated late.

My period can arrive a day or two late/early but I always get it so this is very unusual! I also got what I believed could be implantation bleeding a little over a week after I ovulated (very light pink discharge and some brown when I wiped). I've had heavy white discharge for the past couple of weeks and I'm also having very vivid, emotional dreams. My boobs have just started feeling sore and I've had some mild period like cramps as well. Those to me are the most obvious symptoms that I'm definitely not imagining. My stomach has also been a bit weird, I've had some mild back pain and I've been a little moody but I don't consider those to be obvious signs as they are all quite normal things to me anyway lol.

I'm just so nervous to take another test because I'm worried it's going to be negative again. If I'm not pregnant it's time for us to start trying again but can I even get pregnant if I skipped a period?

I got so excited that I might be pregnant when I got the implantation bleeding (or something that looked like it) and when my period was late, but now I feel silly after all these negatives. I think I'll test again in a week or so if I can bare to wait that long. I'd be totally ok if I wasn't pregnant but all these negatives but not getting my period is driving me crazy!

Anyone here got a positive test very late and was everything ok?

Hey! Sorry to hear things are a little confusing right now. Can I ask have you recently come off of birth control? As sometimes it can take a while for your cycles to resettle afterwards.

@RunnerGirl123

No I haven't been on any kind of hormonal birth control for years x Thanks for asking!

Had some cramps earlier this morning that felt exactly like period cramps and literally just noticed a tiny red lump that almost looked like a sesame seed in toilet paper. Is it possible it could be a very early miscarriage even though I never tested positive? Or I guess I could be starting my period but they just decided to be extremely odd this month.

Hi, when I was ttc I had a couple of cycles like this and even went to the doctor. I think sometimes the stress of it, coupled with really wanting it to happen can delay your cycle. I am a very regular 28 days, but had gone to 47 and nearly 60 at one point on two occasions. I know it’s easy to say, but try to relax and your period should start again.

@Grogonne Thanks so much x It's just so annoying that as soon as we start trying my period decides to be super late for the first time since going off the pill years ago :( I thought I was really relaxed about it all too knowing that it probably wouldn't happen on the first try but maybe not x

If the light pink discharge was in fact ovulation spotting and not implantation spotting, how many dpo would you be right now, counting the day you spotted as ovulation day?

kittenseer · 19/12/2020 16:48

@MrsKin90 I would be 19 days dpo. I have never gotten ovulation bleeding before but I did consider that option too and guess there is a first time for everything.

Oh dear sorry for the typo. 19 days post ovulation/19 dpo I meant to say. Not used to using these abbreviations yet.

@kittenseer don't worry it was easy to see what you meant 😊
Hmm 19dpo would still be over when your period was due. How frustrating for you!
I'd say if you've continued having sex throughout your cycle (rather than stopping when you thought you'd ovulated) it would be worth taking a cheap test every 3 days or a more expensive one weekly?
Sadly TTC does seem to send people's cycles wonky even if they'd been fine before. Sorry to not be any help. I hope you get an answer one way or another soon!

I totally feel your pain - I'm a week late and still negative tests but you sound with your symptoms like you could be pregnant still but I think my cycle is just messed up as I don't have any symptoms at all! Hope you get a definitive answer one way or the other soon! It's very hard when you've only just started - this is our first month trying so its worrying that my period has vanished as I'd like to start the next month and try again if that makes sense!

kittenseer · 19/12/2020 19:05

@MrsKin90 @DaenarysStormborn

Thanks so much both x I think I got my answer today as I have proper bleeding now and definitely don't see how I could be pregnant after this. Guess all those tests were correct and all the symptoms were there just to throw me off and give me false hope. I never expected to get pregnant on first try but didn't see this happening either! Will try to stay really calm in the next few weeks and just see what happens x
