Cat sensing pregnancy

I'm not pregnant yet, I'm in my 2ww right now, but last 2 days my cat has been acting weird, rubbing against my stomach and boobs and smelling in the same areas too, she's never done this and we never had her in my last pregnancy 3 years ago. Is it possible for cats to sense pregnancy before we even know ourselves.
And if you are pregnant and have cats how do they act around you

My cat behaved more affectionately when I was pregnant. I can't remember if she did it even before I knew though.

TrinityWaves · 18/12/2020 16:54

Yes my cat knew when I was 3 weeks from LMP, so actually only a week from conception, started staying in the house all the time and being very affectionate, he would 'guard' babies too.

Helenknowsbest · 18/12/2020 16:59

Apparently cats can smell it. My cat who usually would never come sit with me is so affectionate and tries to sleep on my belly.

GymMat · 18/12/2020 17:04

My cats knew before I did. They would come and try to lie on my belly at the same time. When baby was born the would guard the baby.

She's doin the same she will usually lie next to me but never on me if we ever put her on our laps she jumps straight off but last couple days she's rubbing against my belly and constantly smelling it too, I'm 6po at the moment

My dogs noticed early too. One of them gently rubs his head on my belly and licks it when it’s naked. The other one is acting crazy and jealous... apparently our pets know something is up!

Dannii1996 · 18/12/2020 18:14

Not a cat but my aunties dog knew I was pregnant before even I did! He wouldn’t let anyone near me for some reason so my aunt said you need to take a test! To my surprise it was positive haha!

Humpty11 · 18/12/2020 18:24

My cat didn’t act any differently before I found out but not long after I found out he would insist on sleeping curled up next to me/ at the end of the bed touching my feet. He never does this normally.
With my son he didn’t act differently at all around me though. I hope you get the result you’d like soon 🤞🏼

Turtleturtle81 · 18/12/2020 18:39

Mine both decided they hated me and ignored me my entire pregnancy

Roselilly36 · 18/12/2020 18:54

My pets didn’t seem to pick up on my pregnancies, but when my labour started, my dog would not leave me, he was very distressed and definitely knew something unusual was happening.

Sexnotgender · 18/12/2020 18:58

My cat totally knew last time. Actually she was the reason I tested as she was being so weird with me!

WhySoSensitive · 18/12/2020 19:01

One of my dogs behaviour completely changed towards me then he started attacking me.
Never done it before pregnancy or since baby was born.

Nimsay1 · 18/12/2020 19:03

My cat definitely knew with my first pregnancy and this one. I'm not sure if she knew in the very early days, but definitely as time went on she was far more affectionate than normal and wanted to be near my tummy all the time.

notinthestarsigns · 18/12/2020 19:04

My cat has definitely known, with my last pregnancy and this one, he normally isn’t interested in me at all, always lying on my husband, but both times I have been pregnant he has been much more interested in me!

ivfbeenbusy · 18/12/2020 19:22

One of my male cats turns into a sex pest when he senses I'm pregnant - literally won't stop humping me every time i sit down! Gets really cross when I make him stop. The first time it happened I took him to the vets as thought his neutering had reversed itself - the vet suggested I take a pregnancy test instead - she thought it was hilarious - I was so embarrassed but both her and the cat were right!

Now pregnant with twins and the horny little bastard is at it again - he has the stamina of a porn star 🤣

OMG that's hilarious 😂😂 I hope my male cat doesn't do that if I do fall pregnant, congrats on the twins ❤❤

I’m 17 weeks now and my cat is still oblivious!

Notrightbutok · 18/12/2020 21:49

With my second pregnancy my cat, who wasn't a lap cat at all, sat on my lap. It was one of the reasons I did a test.

SunnySideUp2020 · 18/12/2020 22:28

I find cats more relaxed and affectionate.
But that could just be wishful thinking 😁

mollieangel123 · 18/12/2020 22:31

Since I found out I'm pregnant my cat doesn't leave me alone cuddles in sits on my stomach and really loving 🥰 it's lush to see xxxx

Sls668 · 18/12/2020 22:36

My Mum’s cat was the first person (well, animal!) to know. She was obsessed with me, she wanted to sit on me all the time, always rubbing against my stomach, sniffing and pawing at me. It was very cute. Baby is now 5 weeks old and she is very interested in her.
My dogs, however, were totally clueless. One of them still is now and he’s lived with the baby for nearly 6 weeks 😂

RJnomore1 · 18/12/2020 22:40

When I was pregnant with my oldest my friends cat who usually treated everyone with disdain would not leave me alone. She sat on my lap gently pawing and rubbing her head against my stomach.

Animals pick up on things.

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 18/12/2020 22:48

I've had 6 pregnancies - when my cat brings me mice then I know it's time to take a test 😂

TrinityWaves · 19/12/2020 00:21

I woke up one morning with a cat asleep on my bump, it wasn't my cat.

I'd love this! Totally leaving a window open tonight 🤣 🤞
