So I'm 23+6. Even though it's my first, I have a bigger bump than what I've seen others have for the same period. I literally popped overnight at around 20 weeks - on a Friday I went to visit my parents. Came back on the Saturday evening and I had a prominent bump!

The past few mornings I've woken up to a horrible pain in my right thigh and this morning it was agony. Google suggests it's something called greater trochanteric pain syndrome so I thought I should invest in a sleeping pillow.

But...what are they? How do they work?! I usually sleep half on side half on front but I've stopped doing that and force myself to sleep on my side, which isn't always comfortable!

@MsHedgehog
I would say they are worth it. You can get them from eBay don’t pay a fortune for them as you don’t use them once baby is born. They take up a lot of room so your hubby won’t be impressed lol! I suffer back ache due to disc bulges and used one from around 25 weeks pregnant. They help but keeping your hips at the right angle when asleep on one side also shoulders as you hug it. They are comfortable and so help with back and overall aching.

Ps they look like a sausage shaped pillow!

I had a dream genii with dc2. They’re nearly 3 and I still use it. It has an odd flappy bit, but it helps my back ache and helped the child not fall out of bed this morning when I cocooned it around them Grin

I also had a dream genii and it definitely helped with the sleep positions. I always fancied one of the huge 9ft ones but didn’t know where I’d store it!

JumpingJamboree · 16/12/2020 12:45

Loved mine. Got it from Asda for £20. I still use it now and DD is 9 months old 😂

I bought a cheap one off Amazon last week that folds into a breast feeding pillow with a button and hoop, but it's rubbish with not enough padding.. so don't buy that one.

boymum88 · 16/12/2020 14:03

I have one that I think was from Amazon or eBay, it's like a big u shape, i personally put the bar bit at my feet and the two sides come along my back and stomach, it's great as can put one bit in between my legs and the one up ur back. Stops u sleeping on ur back when u get bigger
Have know DH to steal to the bit that's close to him lol

Another vote for dreamgenii, Iv had 2 now ( 2 pregnancies) and they have been very well used.

I'm 6ft and thought they wouldn't be long enough to wedge between my legs but they are. Also enough to stuff under my bump. They also have a flappy bit on the other side that I stuff under my lower back and keeps me on my side.

Honestly completely love mine. I did buy a 9ft sausage type one from eBay, that on the pictures looked well filled and huge. However it was so disappointing, barley enough padding, lumpy and as it was supposed to cocoon you, I got massively over heated in it (I'm normally a cold person).

The dreamgenii look odd and like they wouldn't be that comfortable.. but they are brilliant!

Love mine, it's mamas and papas but I've read lots of good things about Asda one and it's half the price!

This was the BEST when I was pregnant - the two sides meant you could turn over in the night without rearranging pillows everywhere and it was so comfy.

Aubergina · 16/12/2020 15:09

I guess I toss and turn a lot because I never found my pregnancy pillow very helpful

JemimaTiggywinkle · 16/12/2020 15:13

I have one.

Like you I used to sleep on my front/side and find sleeping on my actual side quite uncomfortable on my hips and knees.

Sometimes I wedge it behind me so I can lie on my side but leaning back a bit.

Sometimes I have it in front with one knee and one arm over it.

Or you could just try putting a normal pillow between your knees when sleeping on your side.

I had the dream genii pillow.
Amazing.
Cant wait to be pregnant again to use it Grin
