I did! Was lovely- waters broke at 38 weeks and I just bounced about watching X Files and not worrying at all about moving anywhere at all. Baby came 10hrs later, about 5hrs active labour. I had gas and air and a TENS. Was so lovely to be in my own bed with a decent cup of tea and a very buttery crumpet immediately afterwards.

Did end up going into hospital on day 3 for 2 days as baby wasn’t taking to breastfeeding- in hindsight I might have got more proactive support with this in hospital and I did also like the comfort of the hospital bed that went up and down by remote! Hospital snacks: not so great.

I loved my home birth and am hoping for another but I’m aware my trust suspended home births last week due to staffing so I’m trying to be super positive in my own mind about the midwife led birth centre too.

I’m due in May with my first and currently researching home births. A friend of mine had a wonderful water birth at her home for her first child so I feel like I’m more open having heard her experience.

I’ve joined a Facebook page called Home Birth UK where people share their experiences. Worth checking it out!

Personally I’m still on the fence, partly because I’ve only just been signed off high risk (precautionary as I’ve had bowel surgery) so not sure they’ll even let me and also because I’m with a hospital and midwife unit that has the most amazing reviews for births so would feel quite confident there - in comparison, the community midwives in my area have been really poor so far and I don’t think I’d be as comfortable in their care...
