Hello,
Ive done 2 pregnancy tests over the last two weeks to announce to parents but both times the clear blue is saying 1-2 weeks when I've been 10 and now 12 weeks???
When we tested pregnant it said 2-3 so it's gone down????
I'm full of anxiety as it is so this has heightened it this morning.. does your hormone drop the further along or does it mean ive missed a miss carriage??? My scan is on Friday but the fear of something being wrong is killing me..
Help...

Why did you do a weeks indicator test again in the first place when you must have known it couldn't be accurate at this stage? Ultimately you're not going to know what the situation is until you have a scan and hopefully there's no issue, but repeat testing really isn't good for anxiety, it wouldn't change the outcome regardless and as you're finding now just leads to you torturing yourself with the what ifs.

Oh love. Yes, levels drop. Stop testing. You can’t get an accurate result from a home test at this stage. You are pregnant and there is NO reason to think otherwise.

Might be the hook effect. Where your placenta is established HCG goes down so your week indicator will go down too. You're not doing your anxiety any favours

Step away from the tests. They’re designed to tell you pregnant or not pregnant not measure your hormone levels. You’re going to end up stressing yourself out.

Thanks ladies, its my first ever pregnancy and I know I'm just winding myself up, its just all so new and overwhelming.
My test was 3+ when we found out so was panicking as it had dropped.
Thanks again for the replies :)

@Suprised2020 if you google 'pregnancy hormones' and click on images you can see nice clear charts that show what happens to your HCG as you come out of your first trimester. I believe it starts to come back down again around week 10-11, it doesn't stay elevated the whole time x

SunnySideUp2020 · 09/12/2020 09:45

@Suprised2020
I am not too familiar with hormones levels and i think they do tend to vary a lot.
If your scan was good at 8 weeks and you haven't had any signs that something is wrong then most likely all is ok.
Friday is soon and i hope it goes well!
Try to stay positive.
And if you are anxious perhaps you can wait until Friday night to announce to your family?

ShalomToYouJackie · 12/12/2020 07:02

@surprised2020 how did your scan go?

ShalomToYouJackie · 12/12/2020 07:03

Oops sorry I meant @suprised2020

AnxiousAnnie86 · 12/12/2020 08:10

@Suprised2020 my pregnancy test was so light at 8 weeks when I did one for "reassurance" then I read about the hook effect! I added 3/4 water and it went back really dark, x

Suprised2020 · 12/12/2020 08:24

@ShalomToYouJackie
Everything was fine, thanks sooooooo much for asking.. im 13+2 so can try and stop panicking now :)
