Implantation bleeding lasting 5 days?? Reassurance needed

Hi everyone. I had some light pink discharge at 7dpo and I’m now 11dpo (according to my app, I don’t use opks). The light pink went to red at 8dpo (just a few spots) and then has now been dark brown for the last few days. It’s not heavy, it’s mostly when I wipe and a small amount on a tissue in my pants.

I was really excited as this is my second cycle after a mc in October at 9 weeks, which was my first pregnancy. I did a frer on Sunday morning (9 dpo) and got a faint positive. I’ve been trying to hold off testing again until my period is due as I only have normal tests left now and I’m worried if I test too soon I’ll be upset. My period is due on Friday, I have regular 30 day cycles.

I just wondered if anyone has any stories of implantation bleeding lasting a long time? Did it lead to a good outcome?

I keep freaking out because this brown blood looks similar to the beginning of my mc last time ☹️ I know it’s so early but I’m worried it’s going to be a chemical or very early mc. I really want to hang on to this one!

If anyone has any stories or advice I would love to hear from you, just getting a bit worried ☹️

Anyone? Xx

Yup this happened to me. Mine lasted for 7 days and it started a week before my period was due so I knew it was implantation bleeding. Took a test 5 days in and got a faint positive. Tested again a few days later and there was no doubting it. The blood was also a pale red then turned to a brown colour. 7mo is currently babbling away.. :)

Don't worry! Just test again in a couple of days and it should be a lot clearer. Good luck Thanks

Cafeaulait27 · 08/12/2020 19:17

@greenemerald oh yay! That’s so reassuring thank you. And congratulations!

I know I just need to wait but it’s so hard isn’t it. I just want to test all the time but I know it’s still to early.

I’m so nervous about it going wrong now I’ve had a mc but this gives me hope. Really don’t want to lose it ☹️ Fingers crossed ☺️

@greenemerald sorry if this is TMI... but mine is sort of watery brown now, is that like what you had? I know it varies for everyone but would be interesting to know xx

Probably not what you want to hear but also could be entirely different to you but I bled from implantation and for the following 3.5 weeks while have what was an extremely early miscarriage. Towards the end it was accompanied with fairly intense pain (much more severe than period cramps).

Hopefully just long implantation for you and all goes well x

Cafeaulait27 · 08/12/2020 20:03

Hey @ApplePie86 no don’t worry that’s fine, it’s good to hear both sides. I’m sorry for your loss. How far along we’re you? How are things for you now?

I am worried it’s a very early loss as it kinda looks similar to how my mc started but I’m just hoping it ‘dries up’ down there soon 🤞 it’ll be day 6 tomorrow xx

Also forgot to say I’m also getting a bit of nausea and headaches, and feeling tired/dizzy at times. My boobs feel sore sometimes too.

I’m reassured by the fact that it’s light and I haven’t had any red since Saturday but who knows... think I’m definitely going to test in the morning, I’ll be 12 dpo then and 2 days away from my period. I just have to do it! It makes me feel more in control I think...

Hey, I’m 10 weeks today and had this. Had discharge at 11dpo and 12dpo, then again on/off between 16dpo - 22dpo. I went to the EPU and they were very nice, scanned me twice. The second time I measured exactly right for my dates and saw a little heartbeat.

Nausea has been awful and started about 11dpo!

Just waiting 2 weeks for my 12 week scan so fingers crossed everything will be ok then!

I hope everything works out for you. The EPU said sometimes women bleed in early pregnancy due to the hormone changes, sometimes there just isn’t an explanation for it! Good luck xx

ApplePie86 · 08/12/2020 20:18

@Cafeaulait27 so just checked FF and it was a bit weird. That cycle I ovulated CD17 and spotted for 4 days until CD20 (never had that before) then 3 days with nothing. Then spotting again from CD24. Only reason I took a pregnancy test on CD31 was because I got a positive ovulation test which was strange. Continued spotting then fully bleeding for a further 15 days. So to be honest within the first couple of days I knew it wasn't going to be a successful pregnancy but I got positive tests (including blood tests) right up to 6 weeks and 6 days. About 5 weeks of bleeding/spotting.

Another thing to mention is that I have PCOS however not sure how that would effect things or if there was a higher chance of that happening.

CD38 today and think I may get a positive OPK tomorrow so keeping trying!

Cafeaulait27 · 08/12/2020 20:26

@ApplePie86 ah that does sound strange. Sorry it didn’t work out for you. Do you have quite long/irregular cycles?

I also have pcos, but it seems to have been well controlled in terms of my cycles wity metformin and now myo inositol. My cycles are bang on 30 days every time. Before I started on the metformin I came off the pill and my periods didn’t come back for a year!

@Crazycatlady83 thank you for the reassurance and congrats! Hope it all goes well for you at the 12 week scan.

I’m getting a weird low level nausea almost like car sickness, it sort of makes my mouth feel a bit funny but I don’t feel like I’m actually going to be sick. And I’m having quite a lot of headaches.

The wait is so difficult!

ApplePie86 · 08/12/2020 20:42

@Cafeaulait27 yeah my cycles were crazy until I started also taking myo inositol. They could be anything up to 6 months but they've come down to anything from 30-45 days although last cycle was 70 days. Keto also helped but hard to stick to and when I eat carbs my cycle gets longer as well :-(

This cycle would end up being about 50 days but I've eaten crap the last month.

Crazycatlady83 · 08/12/2020 20:56

Thanks and I hope it all works out for you and your little one! For the sickness The midwife advised me to eat little and often - I’ve honestly never eaten as much in my life! But if I start to feel hungry, I want to throw up!!

Cafeaulait27 · 08/12/2020 20:56

@ApplePie86 I would highly recommend metformin, it’s worked an absolute treat. I can’t believe how regular my cycles are.

It’s so hard to stick to a pcos friendly diet isn’t it? I slip up all the time and stuff myself with biscuits!

Changeythenamey · 08/12/2020 21:27

Yes, I had this around the time my period was due. My periods are a bit unpredictable so it was only a week later when this bleeding/ spotting stopped that I took a test on the off chance!

Cafeaulait27 · 08/12/2020 21:49

@Changeythenamey that’s good to hear, thank you. How long did the bleeding last for you? Xx

OP posts:
Changeythenamey · 08/12/2020 22:36

It was around a week, maybe 8 days. It wasn’t insignificant bleeding either and even after bfp there was spotting for a good week or so.

Cafeaulait27 · 08/12/2020 22:39

@Changeythenamey that’s so reassuring thank you!! So everything went well for you after that?

Will keep you all updated, I’m totally testing again in the morning x

Cafeaulait27 · 09/12/2020 05:44

Just had a negative test and some red blood, 12 dpo and period 2 days away. I think the poor thing has gone already ☹️ I had a faint positive on a frer at 9 dpo.

I’ll test again in two days but I think it’s over... it feels so cruel, really wanted it to work out this time.

OP posts:
Cafeaulait27 · 09/12/2020 15:45

Well. I just did another FR and it’s negative. So that’s that. I guess it was a chemical/v early miscarriage.
Xxx
