Finding out the sex at 20 weeks, how accurate??

I had my 20 week scan today. Baby was in an awkward position and then had the cord between its legs. The sonographer spent ages trying to see boy or girl and eventually said he wasn't 100% sure but he thought girl. Then the cord moved and he looked again and said he's "fairly confident" it's a girl. We have another scan in a few weeks anyway so can double check but I'm wondering how likely it is that he's right? I feel like him saying he's fairly confident has to be a positive, surely if he was really unsure he wouldn't say one way or the other? Has anyone else had an awkward baby when trying to predict sex?

From what my friend says (Private Sonographer)
certifying a boy is a lot more accurate as you can't mistake a willy and balls!

However when checking if a girl, trickier and more open to mistakes if the willy just hasn't been seen.

Why don't you do the sneak peek test to confirm? X

I was told girl with dc2 and he is very much a boy!

I'm having another scan in February so I can check again then but it feels like a long wait! Just wondering if he said he's fairly confident whether he would have said that if he wasn't if that makes sense? Not that it matters if it's a girl or a boy but I'm nervous about getting attached to the idea of a girl and then being disappointed if he was wrong

My baby was really wriggly at my 20wk scan- the sonographer guessed girl due to 3 lines in the genital area but said it wasn't 100%! I'm going to ask them to double check at my growth scan next week.

I had a cervical length scan today and the sonographer did an abdominal scan as well as an internal which I wasn't expecting so she asked if I wanted her to have another look and she says it definitely looks like a girl. But she also said never trust a girl until she's in the cot 😂 I guess these things are never 100% but I'm more confident now with a second person looking than I was after my scan yesterday

Good luck with your growth scan @Santaisironingwrappingpaper

In Scotland they never say 100% it's always it's most likely a girl/boy. I have my 20 week scan tomorrow so hope they can see x

With my two boys it was unmistakable that they were boys! 😂
Had a sexing scan at 16 weeks this time and they’ve said girl, she looked girly too.. 20 week scan tomorrow so I’ll ask them to confirm but I’m nervous in case they now say boy as DH and his family will be gutted!
