Pressure in Pelvic Area when Going to the Loo 5+5

Hi all,

Am expecting my first and so don’t know what’s normal/what’s not. I got a positive test at 9DPO and my tests have been progressing nicely with 1-2 weeks on CB at 9DPO, 2-3 about 5 days later and 3+ at 19DPO, plus a dye stealer on a FRER.

I don’t have much in the way of cramps apart from the occasional achey feeling, a few stabbings pains early on, and yesterday a sharp pain when I sneezed.

What I’m a little unsure of is the fact that I’m getting a bit of a feeling of pressure in my pelvic area when I go to the loo, either for a wee or number 2 when I’m pushing. It’s not painful, just not normal for me. Also it’s not all the time. I am struggling a little with constipation, but not badly. Does this sound normal/has anyone else experienced this in early pregnancy? This was actually one of my earliest symptoms that I noted down at DPO. Thanks in advance x

Hi I’m 6 weeks today and my constipation was so bad and made me have awful cramps I had to call my GP and they gave my liquid laxatives that works amazingly. I’d say the pressure your feeling is because your so constipated too. I think it’s normal as there are so many hormonal changes in pregnancy x

@Sallyjo27 thanks for replying ☺️ Sorry to hear you’re suffering from the same issue! To be honest my constipation isn’t that bad, but definitely not my usual. Hopefully what I’m feeling is just down to that and everything stretching out x

Could also be the start of a UTI? I have had recurrent UTI both before and during pregnancy (so far, I'm only 9 weeks into first pregnancy) and the symptoms can vary. Pelvic pain or pressure when weeing is definitely a UTI sounding symptom even if you don't have the other classic symptoms.

@Luckyelephant1 thanks for replying ☺️ I’ve struggled with UTIs since I was a teenager, but as I’ve got older I’ve had them less and less. I had a lot of investigations around UTIs as I would go barely two weeks without getting one. Really hope they don’t come back in pregnancy. What I’m feeling now feels very different to how I would feel if I did have a UTI, and I get the same pressure feeling when going for a poo too, but it’s not all the time which is why it’s confusing. Because of the recurring UTIs I always push very hard at the end of going for a pee to make sure I’ve emptied my bladder properly, and it’s then when I’m getting this feeling of pressure, essentially when I’m straining I suppose x

You sound a bit like me, I've had UTIs since early 20's and had one a month for every month of TTC, the last one lasted until 2 weeks ago (I'm 9 weeks today) and I had 3 rounds of antibiotics for it! Maybe it could just be constipation then. Also uterus expanding early on does shift things around a bit, I had so many twinges and weird sensations up until about a week ago.

@Luckyelephant1 recurrent UTIs are not nice to go through! My last was around May I believe and did need antibiotics to get rid of it, for the most part I don't get them so much now. I'll keep an eye on things and maybe ask about it at my booking appointment in just over a weeks time. Thanks for your help, and hope you don't suffer many more UTIs in your pregnancy! xx
