Trying to conceive after stopping the mini pill

I have been on the min pill for 2.5 years and came off in October after my period. I then had a bleed which lasted 6 days in November and three weeks later am bleeding again. I am using the term bleeding because I don't know if this is a period and the bleed in November was a withdrawal bleed? I am assuming so as the cycle is much shorter than previously.

I would like to start trying to conceive soon but don't know if I should wait another month as my cycle seemed so short this month? Prior to going on the pill I had a period every 28 days and it was bang on. The last year on the mini pill my cycle has gone from anything between 28 to 37 days. I was investigated for the prolonged bleeding as it has gone up to 14 days at one point but my womb and cervix were all healthy, no cysts etc. I did ask to have a blood test to see if I maybe had perimenopause as my auntie started hers in her mid 30s and my mum at 40 but was told I was too young and gp refused.

I did use ovulation sticks after my November bleed and got a positive on a clear blue at day 9 in my cycle but thought that was too early for me to be able to get pregnant successfully although we still dtd.

Just wanted to see if anyone else had periods on the mini pill and how long it took for their body to settle down? Also what i should be looking for? Should I expect to have a 28 day cycle or a regular number eg. 32, 33 days consistently for a few months before I try to conceive? I am 34 years old. I do have a dd and ds already but be are hoping to try for a third. I hope my post doesn't come across as insensitive and do not expect to get pregnant straight away.

I could just do with some advice from anyone who has been in a similar position please.

I came off the mini pill and fell pregnant within weeks unfortunately I lost that baby

I did fall pregnant again 2 weeks after I stopped bleeding and I'm now pregnant with my rainbow 🌈 baby 17 weeks

There's no need to wait unless you want to

I came off the mini pill and fell pregnant on first cycle. I’m now 21 weeks pregnant.

I came off the pill after being on it for 8 years. I never had a withdrawal bleed. I fell pregnant straight away. I'm now 16 weeks pregnant. The only reason you should wait for your first natural period is so you can track properly when you fall pregnant. Sometimes it takes a while for your body to get back to a natural cycle. So when you do fall pregnant I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy x

When I came off the mini pill my gp said it might take 3 months for my cycles to return to normal. I came off the pill in the August and I think it was about 6 weeks until my first bleed after that they were every 28 +/-3 days. I got my positive test in December

I came off the mini pill in August last year and got pregnant in December. That ended in miscarriage but I am pregnant again and 18 weeks now. I don't see why you would wait? We tried from as soon as I stopped the pill. If you can get pregnant from missed pills then of course there's a chance you can get pregnant quickly once you've stopped the pill!

Hey, I came off the mini pill earlier this year and it took almost 6 weeks for af to arrive. As I'd always had irregular and painful periods, I started temping on day one of the bleed and charted so that I knew exactly when I was ovulating. It was day 17 of that cycle. Did exactly the same the next month and again ovulated day 17 and was lucky enough to fall pregnant, now 19 weeks. I didn't do ovulation sticks as I found them too stressful.

Good luck with your journey!

Hi, I also came off the mini pill at the beginning of November and got my period 3 days later, I never had periods on my pill though. I got my next period exactly 3 weeks later instead of 4. Also trying for my 3rd. I'm not using opks though I find it too stressful so I just have no idea when I might ovulate apart from tracking my cycle on an app and hoping for the best! But like you, slightly worried about only having a 3 week cycle. I'm just hoping it's my body adjusting to being off the pill. Fingers crossed we're successful soon! X
