How to not to worry before 12 weeks scan?

So I'm pregnant with second, first was a very rough pregnancy so hence with this one, I am anxious, I had a scan at 6 week 3 days due to HG everything fine and heartbeat seen, but now with less than a week I'm worried about mmc, how to stop worrying? I'm still being sick about once a week and have a little bump already, but still worrying.

I don't really have much advice to stop worrying as I was sick with worry before mine too. The relief when they found the heartbeat and could see all was well was the best feeling in the world though, I couldn't stop crying. I'm sure if you've already seen a heartbeat all will be fine for you too, the chance of a MMC is much lower if you've already seen the heartbeat Thanks

There is nothing you can do to stop to the worry! I was a mess before mine! I slept so well the night after my scan! 🤣
I'd say as long as you're not bleeding then you're fine. Especially knowing you had an early scan which is fab to know all was well. I wish you all the best 🥰

I was almost sick with nerves before mine. I think it’s normal to worry. You’ll feel such a massive surge of relief when you see that everything is okay. It didn’t really reassure me, but I tried to keep telling myself that I couldn’t change what was going to happen, and that the odds were massively in favour of everything being okay. Good luck! X

Thanks, it's hard, I have had a miscarriage before hence the worrying!

I think it very much just depends on each person and if you're a natural worrier there's probably not much you can do. Personally, I'm not, and I very much take the approach that all I can do is follow the guidelines and after that what will be will be, worrying about it does nothing but add stress! But I'm very aware that suggesting that to someone who worries is not helpful Blush
Practical advice: don't over Google things. You will find something to worry about everywhere if you look for it. Also, when you read stats or stories remember the positive side - the vast majority of pregnancies are successful and result in healthy babies.

@TOWGA so sorry for your previous loss. I’m the same, which is why I think I was so nervous too. I just assumed nature would take the same course as before. I’ll be just as nervous before my 20 week scan I think, I’ll convince myself that something has gone wrong. Blush but chances are, for you as well, that everything will just be absolutely fine x

I have a week to go before my 12 week scan too. Also had an early scan were they found a heartbeat and all was coming along nicely. But in the past two weeks my symptoms have all but disappeared and I am worrying so much that something isn’t right. I’m a natural worrier anyway so this doesn’t help things. It’s been such a long wait since the last scan and another full week of waiting seems daunting 😖

I hope everything goes well for you OP 💕

I’m the same! This is my only child where I had to try for so long to get pregnant (20 months) so I’m terrified of something going wrong. I have pcos and google is not helping me right now :(. My scan is on the 15th and I have seen my little baby at 6+5 and all was well but I cannot stop worrying!!!! So I’m no help really lol xx

swiftt · 04/12/2020 18:29

@HappyDaze90 if it makes you feel any better, I felt pretty much normal from 9 weeks onwards. I was absolutely convinced something would be wrong, and it was just fine x

HappyDaze90 · 04/12/2020 20:10

@swiftt Yes, it absolutely does! I had no idea before I got pregnant that symptoms can come and go. I just thought women suffered for 9 months 😂
I’m so excited for the 12 week scan 💕

Mine is tomorrow, and am so nervous, hospital keeps messing me about too so don't have any confidence that I'm actually gonna get my scan tomorrow!

I am a terrible worrier but just used to tell myself it was my bodies way of making sure I was looking after myself and preparing me for the responsibility of having a baby.

TOWGA · 07/12/2020 21:23

@Thirtyrock39 thanks, I'm thinking logically I have bump already (it's my second) I have been very ill with sickness, so why wouldn't everything be ok, but it still worries me!

Hope all goes well at the scan and it gives you some reassurance
