Bleeding at 5 and a half weeks pregnant

Had a strong positive on a pregnancy test on Monday. Had some brown spotting on Thursday which has turned to red blood now which is period like šŸ˜” I’ve basically accepted the fact I’m miscarrying now but this has happened before and it feels different. I haven’t had any bad cramping but I don’t think I could bleed this much and it not be a loss. Basically I’m wondering is there anyone that’s gone through this and went on to have a healthy pregnancy? phoned the clinic who advised it is too early to scan and to do another test Monday

Oh bless you. The waiting is the worst. Yes, this has happened to me twice, and once it worked out and once it didn’t.

The time it worked out I was bleeding around 5 1/2 weeks, had a scan, it was too early so they made me wait 2 weeks. The wait for that appointment and the heartbeat was the longest time. DS1 is nearly 9 now and I never forget I thought I’d lost him.

I subsequently did have a miscarriage around the same time which was devastating so I fully appreciate your worry. Hope it works out for you.

Raleighx · 27/11/2020 23:59

Thankyou I really appreciate it šŸ’– it gives me hope that it worked out for you in the past.

It’s that saying ā€˜hope for the best, expect the worst’ I’m fully expecting the worst but it’s nice to have that glimmer of hope even if the not knowing is agonising x

Hey, i hope you're doing okay.

I changed my name for a few reasons but this is a link to one of my threads where I experienced the exact same.

I'm nearly 10 weeks on Sunday now , I hope everything is fine for you. Stay strong

Thankyou šŸ’– glad to see you’re doing well.. did they ever pinpoint the cause of your bleeding?

@Raleighx hi! Im so sorry you're going through this. I've also had some spotting/light bleeding for about 3 days this week. I took a pregnancy test which was much lighter so obviously am expecting the worse. Spotting does seem to have stopped for now and I still have nausea. Do you are any other symptoms?. When I was doing hours of research on this I did find lots and lots of positive stories. It is definitely not 100% over, but it makes sense to prepare for the worst.

Did they say when they can scan you? I'm going for a scan Tuesday when I'll be 6+6. How is the bleeding now? The fear each time you go to the toilet is just awful isnt it. I had never expected it to be this way šŸ˜” Thinking of you xx

Hi babe! Really sorry you’re going through this as well :( I’m still feeling super sick. Nausea is worse than ever and boobs are still sore but not as sore.

I’m supposed to be going in for a scan on friday but they’ve advised to do a test on Monday and depending on the results they may bring it forward. I’m bleeding like a normal period now, maybe slightly lighter and I really don’t think I could bleed this much and it still be viable. It’s weird though I’ve went through a loss at this stage before and it was so different. Last time I had heavy bleeding and severe cramping?!

Thinking of you and praying for a good outcome for us both xxxx

Didn't want to read and run. Around 13/14 weeks pregnant I woke up with the bed soaked in red blood, loads of blood loss convinced I was miscarrying. Got scanned to find baby fine and well, it was a hemotoma (which apparently happens to 1 in 100 pregnancies if I was right.) the thing that singled it out for me was even though I was bleeding more than I ever had, I had no pain or cramps. Hopefully it'll be the same for you. My LO is now a healthy, full of energy one year old! X

TeaBanditTeej · 28/11/2020 23:04

@Raleighx

Thankyou šŸ’– glad to see you’re doing well.. did they ever pinpoint the cause of your bleeding?
No, they could not find the reason for bleeding. Some women just bleed a little throughout pregnancy with no issues

Let us know how you get on. Here if you need a listening ear xxxxx

WingingIt2021 · 28/11/2020 23:32

@Raleighx it is so scary isnt it! I think the fact you don't have pain and still have symptoms is a really good sign! I totally get why you would be totally fearing the worst, I am terrified too. But when you put everything together, there is still hope!

Let me know how you get on Monday with testing. Remember you might need to add water to the urine sample because of hook effect, so ideally I would have 2 tests ready and try one with mixing water and one without.

We can get through this together xx

Raleighx · 29/11/2020 13:56

Thankyou @netstaller - always nice to hear a positive story!

Appreciate it @TeaBanditTeej Smile

@WingingIt2021 keep me updated with you. We can get through this and il let you know what happens when I test šŸ’–

I’m worried today as I’m feeling so nauseous. TMI but I’ve had a bit of diaherrea too and slight cramping. The bleeding is really light now but I feel quite floaty and out of it. Been googling at as you do and now I’m worried it could be ectopic? Really hoping this isn’t the case!

Wwydiywm · 29/11/2020 14:10

I bled a lot at this time, more than I would for a period, got checked out and everything was fine.
Good luck to you xx

Raleighx · 29/11/2020 14:50

Thankyou @Wwydiywm xxx

WingingIt2021 · 29/11/2020 16:09

@Raleighx don't panic I've had similar and I've already been scanned for eptopic. Obviously no guarantees, but if you don't have a pain in the tip of your shoulder, or severe pain on one side, then hopefully you'll be okay šŸ¤žšŸ¤žšŸ¤ž good luck testing tomorrow, don't forget about hook effect, I dont want you worrying unnecessarily!

Mandy8885 · 29/11/2020 19:31

@Raleighx wishing you all the best! Im 4 weeks now and have had pale pink spotting on and off for 4 days. Its so unsettling seeing any kind of blood at all. I'm just really trying to hold on to the fact that there could be many reasons and lots of positive storys here too! Let us know how you get on xx

Raleighx · 30/11/2020 14:16

Hi girls. It's not good news I'm afraid. I tested again today and the line is sooo faint it was practically negative. Phoned the clinic and they want me to go in for bloods tomorrow but looks like it's the end.

Absolutely gutted as that was our 6th round of IUI treatment. We now have to wait until Feb to start the process of IVF. We have spent an absolute fortune and we are mentally and physically drained by the whole thing xxx

@Raleighx so sorry to hear that! Its so unfair. Sending you lots of love xx

WingingIt2021 · 30/11/2020 14:36

@Raleighx I'm so sorry to hear that. Did you try diluting with water just incase it is the hook effect?

Raleighx · 30/11/2020 17:37

@Mandy8885 thankyou xx

@WingingIt2021 i didn't just cos i had in my head that the hook effect is rare. obviously the bloods will confirm tomorrow what I already know... really hope your scan goes well tomorrow. really rooting for you xxxx

OP posts:
WingingIt2021 · 30/11/2020 17:46

@Raleighx fair enough. I think the hook effect is actually really common, everyone i know who is pregnant and tested had it, but totally understand you want to protect yourself and that is completely fair in the circumstances. I will keep everything crossed for you tomorrow and hope to hear from you with positive news xx

Raleighx · 01/12/2020 10:49

@WingingIt2021 ah I actually didn't realise but I've been doing my research and looks like it is more common than I thought. I guess anything is possible! Definitely prepared myself for the very worse though. What time is your scan? xx

OP posts:
WingingIt2021 · 01/12/2020 15:25

@Raleighx yeah super common!!

Scan was thid morning. There with a heartbeat flashing away on screen. The negative is bean is measuring about a week behind and they did see a small bleed as well, which explains the spotting. So basically we need bean to catch up and the bleed to pass / go away before I can properly relax. I have a midwife apt on Thursday so going to speak to them and hopefully I can be monitored to make sure things are developing. If not I have a private scan in 3 weeks so hopefully that will be cleaer šŸ™‚ i am not overally excited at the prospect of more bleeding but hopefully if it does pass it won't be a lot!

How you feeling?

Raleighx · 01/12/2020 16:53

@WingingIt2021aww amazing.. so great you got to hear a heartbeat. Bless you try not to worry too much. I know it's easier said than done.

It was as I expected. Devastated to be honest xxx
