When did you start taking note of patterns in movement?

I am 22 weeks tomorrow (1st pregnancy to get this far) and felt her consistently move everyday for a week now.
I was wondering when did you actually know there was a pattern?
Or otherwise what were your criteria for reduced movements?
Is it a day? Half a day? A couple of hours without movements?

I know the baby is really small and has lots of space for now, just trying to understand how people normally monitor movements :)
My midwife said to pay attention but did not specify how or when!

I'm 21+2 and went in yesterday because I had reduced movement. Because he's still really small, the midwife who checked me in was pessimistic that I had a pattern but I really do have some pattern.

He moves occasionally throughout the day but every evening for the past two weeks, after I've had my dinner and I'm relaxing on the sofa with my feet up, he moves a lot. He also kicks when I'm lying down on my right hand side. I've only noticed those two patterns so far, but other times I try to pay attention to what I'm doing, time of day, etc. to establish a pattern.

One of the midwives I saw said that a "pattern" can vary from one pregnancy to another, and it could really be anything. Do you feel the baby move after you've had a hot drink? Do they always move just after you wake up, or at a certain time of day? Does it line up with when you eat, or a certain kind of food?

I think for my girl I started noticing around the early 20-weeks that it was mid-morning, or after a cup of tea, and then as I got further along it was also when I lay on my side in bed in the morning, and a couple of times an hour during the day. I didn't really write things down, just took a mental note of when I felt movements & what was going on at the time, then gradually noticed the patterns.

I hope that helps :) The main thing is that if you're at all feeling like there is less movement than what's normal for your baby then give someone a call about it.

Every time I’ve lay down at night from about 16 weeks I’ve had movements. I did notice reduced movements at 19 weeks and hadn’t felt him for about 5 days but basically was told if I wanted reassurance I could go in to listen to heartbeat but there’s nothing they would do that early even if there was a problem so I didn’t bother wasting my time. I’m 26 weeks now and it does differ during the day when/if he moves but it’s now consistently at night when I lie down or if I drink coke he has a good kick

I was told until 28 weeks they don’t expect anything regular
