Hi Everyone,

I’m currently 11 weeks pregnant with my first baby, I’ve got my 12 week scan on 30th November. It feels like we’ve known about it forever, but the only people we’ve told so far is my mum and sister. We would really like to try and keep it as a surprise until Christmas for my partners family as we’re currently in the process of buying a new house and we’re living with them (stress haha) but I was wondering when everyone else told their families? Was it harder to keep it a secret the further on your got?
Thank you xx

We told parents when we found out, told a few close friends after an early scan at 8 weeks and everyone else after 12 week scan. I was very bloated from the start so looked very pregnant, was quite hard to hide.

I told my work at seven weeks both times as I was so sick and I needed to be taken away from public contact. I told the family at the same time as I didn’t think it was right work people knew before family.

Alexandrababy1 · 24/11/2020 14:42

Thanks for the replies everyone! I had an early 8 week scan too but it hasn’t made me any less nervous for the 12 week scanConfused xx

@TeaBanditTeej omg congratulations! It’s going to be such an amazing present for the family to tell them at Christmas but yeah I know exactly what you mean, it’s sooooo hard to keep it a secret!
How are you feeling? I was really nauseous but it’s slowed down now! Just starting to feel a bit fat hahaha xx

With my second I didn't tell anyone until 20 weeks as I had previous losses, you should be able to hide a first pregnancy for a few extra weeks.

Omg I know!!!! I think my worst symptom is tiredness. I'm working from home which is great and worked out really well. I haven't had much nausea, it really just is the tiredness. My nails are growing so fast as is my hair!! Maybe it's the pregncare max I'm taking. Are you taking any supplements????? What other symptoms do you have? I'm still exercising thank goodness, my partner and I are part of "BMF - be military fit" so I don't think I'm gonna stop , I just adapted a few exercises to be on the safe side. Doesn't make me feel any less fat though hahaha honestly bloated to the max!! Xxxxx

Fifthtimelucky · 24/11/2020 15:19

Told no one until 12 weeks (except my boss with the first as I took some time off at 8 weeks when I started bleeding).

Alexandrababy1 · 24/11/2020 15:51

@TeaBanditTeej I only felt tired at first then at about 8/9 weeks I started to get really bad nausea and I’m constantly exhausted! It’s easing off now thank god, omg you sound motivated, I wish I could be bothered to exercise, I’ve just been trying to get an hour walk in a day!
I’ve been taking those pregcare ones with the folic acid but nothing else at the minute, are you going to find out the gender? I think I might book an early gender scan to find out!! Haha, it’s so nice talking to other people about it because I haven’t told any of my friends yet!!xxx

We told my my straight away as I was so excited, I ended up telling one of my best friends as we were working a night shift together and she guessed before I'd even said anything lol. We told my husbands family the next time we saw them as they lived further away at the time. I was around 5 weeks probably. I'm no good at keeping secrets lol.
I unfortunately lost my second early on but i had told the people I worked with as I was supporting a man with autism and I was potentially at risk of harm. When I got pregnant again we did wait until the scan as my husband wanted to due to the miscarriage
It's up to you really Smile and congratulations!

Heartofglass12345 · 24/11/2020 17:15

You could get both of your parents grandparent Christmas cards and put the scan photo in Grin

SpillingTheTea · 24/11/2020 17:17

I was 11 weeks.
Told my parents and PIL's the day I found out I was pregnant.

We told our closest straight away, parents, siblings and best friends. As you can imagine even sworn to secrecy the news trickeled through. But after a pregnancy scare nearing 12 weeks I highly regretted telling everyone cause the thought of having to tell everyone something had happened was sickening. Luckily now 16 weeks and all seems well. Im not sure how your family works but I know that my partners mum would of been hurt not being told when my own mum was told and not finding out till months later. Obviously I know your the pregnant one and its your mum but shes as much the granny as what your mum is.

VHB88 · 25/11/2020 19:13

I’m 17Weeks pregnant with baby number 4 and we’ve decided not to tell anyone until 20week scan on the 11th of December. We’re hoping to find out the sex of baby then too😊
