Bambino Mio cloth nappies - anyone used?

Hi, looking at reusable nappies for my first baby due early next year. Have been advised by friends to wait til after the birth and use nappy libraries to try stuff out etc, but with Black Friday coming up and the opportunity to save some cash (I know I could buy second hand but would prefer to buy these new) I’ve been having a look at options. Has anyone used the Bambino Mio ones? Seem quite reasonably priced with good reviews. Looking at the ones with the inner layer and covers rather than the all-in-ones. Be very grateful to hear anyone else’s experiences of them or any other recommendations. Thanks in advance!

I've only used the all in ones so I don't know about the ones you're looking at but they aren't my favourite, I found the velcro went quickly compared with other brands velcro.

My favourites with my newborn were:

Little lambs two part nappies (bamboo) and wrap

Muzlinz with a nappy nippa and wrap

Baba and Boo newborn

Close pop ins.

I preferred velcro when he was tiny but now he's 15m I way prefer poppers.

I've used as part of a nappy trial kit and had leaks every single time. They're mainly microfibre so the pee squeezes out on compression so if they're in a seat or sling they're not great. You could boost but they're quite bulky already. I like close pop ins but Baba and boo are bombproof for us. I would be happy if my nappies were all Baba and boos

I used them with my little boy and they were great , the only issue I found was sometimes when he did a gigantic wee it would leak but I assume that's because the wee was concentrated in one location .
They washed really well and never had an issue with the Velcro

Oh just seen you're after newborn nappies, sorry I meant BTP Smile

I used inner prefolds and covers (ages ago and weren't branded) worked brilliantly. Had 24 prefolds and 4 covers in each size. Didn't use for newborn as dd was very tiny and they were too bulky, used from about 6 weeks from memory. Did 2 kids and at one point both were in nappies at the same time so lots of washing! I sold mine on eBay after for more than I paid unbelievably

They’re ok, not the best though. They are cute! I think with newborns they’ll probably work really well. Ours were fine while daughter was just rolling around, but, as soon as she started sitting and being more active, I found that they would leak a lot. Newborns don’t pee huge amounts so should be good. Second pp recommendation of close pop ins though, they are super leak proof and have really sturdy poppers that toddlers can’t pull open. Did find that my daughter would start pulling the Velcro mios open at about 8 months old

We have bambino mio (size 1

Superscientist · 20/11/2020 11:31

Not the bambino mio wraps can only be used on flat or prefold nappies. Now we are looking to move on from muslins as our many nappy having a mix of wraps allows us to use shaped and flat nappies. We have bought a few birth to potty wraps to replace the rumparooz when she out grows them (~15lb)

GarlicMushroom · 20/11/2020 11:58

Similar story here...not my favourite! Velcro wears out rather quickly and rather a big bulky fit for my slim 18mo (they've never fitted him well)
Newborn nappies I would look at seedling, baba and boo, close, little lambs (fitted nappies, I wouldn't reccomend their wraps) and blueberry (pricey but amazing). Other than that the muslinz or brightbots with wraps from any of the above are a great option with being able to reuse the shell x

Thank you everyone, really useful advice. I’ll check out some of your recommendations! It’s all bamboozling me at the minute

@BurningBenches we've bought the trial pack of Little Lambs products to see what we think we'll like.

What made you choose that one in particular? We are leaning toward the one size but hard to know before baby arrives.

On one hand I'd like to get everything purchased now while I'm still earning, but on the other I worry it's a big outlay if baby doesn't get on with my choice.

WalkiesAndBiscuits · 21/11/2020 05:35

We’ve only ever used Baba and Boo and they are great, they are very absorbent and don’t leak. Also they are super lovely and helpful people and have really cute designs Smile

Tararararara · 21/11/2020 06:36

We've got Bambino Mio all in ones. We love them. They're the only ones we currently use and they are fab for nursery.

BUT the birth to potty size are NOT birth to potty and only fit from around 9 months. We used a mix before that but mainly prefolds and little lambs.

PenelopeParallelogram · 21/11/2020 07:24

My 2 year old is potty training, but we have loved the Bambino Mio prefolds and wraps, they have been consistently successful, and only recently had to boost them as he was controlling his wee and eventually letting it all gush out!

BurningBenches · 21/11/2020 09:48

@iamC I think it was a quiz I did on the nappy lady website tbh.

Before I had DS I bought some little lamb two part, some bambino mios and some happy flute pockets

When he arrived I added baba and boo newborn and the muzlins

Of those, I'm still using the little lambs albeit size 2 as night time nappies.

abigailackland · 24/11/2020 12:03

I've a few of the bambino Mio two pieces and AIO and have worked great for me. Two pieces are very good for night time and never had a single leak with them. They have a sale on this week so definitely worth trying them out :)
