Sterilised but not sure if I could be pregnant...some advice would be great!

So I got sterilised at the start of February. My periods are normally very regular with an average 27 day cycle. This month my period was supposed to start on Friday the 6th but I had nothing to Thursday 12th and even then I only had bleeding that day. Now today Tuesday 17th I’m staining. Whilst waiting for my period to arrive I done two pregnancy tests and both came back negative. My periods since July have only been lasting two days instead of the usual five. Has anyone had similar issues and what way did you fair out? I have been feeling a bit sick this past couple of cycles, could I be pregnant? Thanks

When you say sterilised, how exactly?if a hysterectomy then no, if a tubal ligation then very unlikely but possible.

However the pregnancy tests would likely have come back positive by now if you were.

It was a tubal ligation, done using clips. Just so strange never had this before

I haven't experienced this myself but from what you have said it is very unlikely you are pregnant.

Doyoumind · 17/11/2020 18:28

How old are you?

dinniesxo · 17/11/2020 18:41

Strange in a sense I have never been late other than when I have been pregnant, DD is now 12 and I never got a positive test to I was nearly 8 weeks whereas DS who is now 10 I got a positive when I was 2 days late

Dinnie, It is possible. I am now well passed my child bearing years but when I was 32 I became pregnant following tubal ligation with clips. I was told, although rare, it is not uncommon. I now have two sets of clips.

JuliaDomna, would you mind sharing your story with me please, how u found out etc thanks, going out of my mind here

Of course Dinnie. It is a long time ago - I am in my late 60s.

I just knew I was pregnant. I felt different and I started getting symptoms, sore breasts and my period never came. I was really in a bad place because my marriage wasn't in the best shape. I actually miscarried at 12 weeks and later that year I underwent another sterilisation and hence the two sets of clips. It was a sad time.

My periods often went in cycles . Sometimes early for a few months, sometimes late. I had been regular in my 20s and then changes occurred in my 30s. So maybe something similar is happening to you? I think our hormones do fluctuate and mine did until I reached the menopause at 56.

Do you have any other symptoms? Why don't you make an appointment with your GP and discuss it. She or he may be able to put your mind at rest.

Good luck, Sending you a hug.

So sorry to hear that. Just feel nauseous and tired for a few months now. I was at doctors in September because I felt so nauseous at that time (I have never actually been sick) I was also getting lightheaded but lightheads have mostly settled. I got bloods done for thyroid etc but all came back normal. I have had a normal period since then and now what I have experienced this month.

I would make an appointment to see your GP. It sounds as if something is going on which needs investigating. I am not medically trained but it doesn't sound as if you are pregnant. Tiredness, nausea and dizziness for a prolonged period are really miserable. In the meantime plenty of TLC, rest when you can (easier said than done) and check it out.

Take care Dinnie
