Should I be worried? Feeling really unwell

Hi All,

I just wanted people's opinions before I contact the doctor, as I'm always afraid of wasting their time.

Im 29 weeks pregnant and over the past few days I have been exhausted, staying in bed until lunch time etc which really isn't like me, yesterday I got up at 12.45pm and was back in bed for 4pm, I'm too exhausted to even go downstairs and make myself something to eat and drink and today is even worse - I ended up getting out of bed at 3pm Blush (which really isn't like me, that last time I did that was after a bender at 18 haha) but I'm forcing myself to sit at my computer as I have university work to do and I'm red hot, I feel weak like my arms feel heavy and I want nothing more than to get back into bed and I don't know what to do, if I need to contact someone or if this will go away on it's own but I just feel really bad.

Thanks for any advice anyone can offer

Sounds a bit like flu or a virus to me (not a medical professional). Any Covid symptoms (cough, temperature)?

Dramacoats · 14/11/2020 16:31

Have you measured your temperature? It sounds like it could be a virus. I think it’s worth speaking to a doctor as always better to be overly cautious in pregnancy.
Have you had your iron checked recently? Anemia can make you feel totally exhausted too.

Call 111 now. Get expert medical advice, not opinions.

I agree about your iron levels as you sound like you are anaemic. Did you have your 28 week blood tests?

Closingtime94 · 14/11/2020 16:41

I'll give them a call, I'm just anxious about wasting peoples time. I've not got a cough and I don't think I have a temperature, my chest isn't hot to touch I just feel red hot, I had my GTT test and I have extremely low iron levels but I have been taking the tablets they gave me, been taking them for the last week or so. I think you're right it might just be a virus but I'll speak to 111 as when pregnant things can be a bit more serious, thank you x

Always worth checking. I felt dreadful one time in my first pregnancy. No energy, could barely function, totally off and couldn't put my finger on it. Saw my midwife and my blood pressure was through the roof. I ended up having preeclampsia so it's always worth checking.

Oneandabean · 14/11/2020 17:13

I’m 29+3 and have been the same today, so exhausted and wobbly. Just want to lie in bed

badg3r · 14/11/2020 20:34

Call them to check. I had very low iron during pregnancy and was on 200mg a day plus b12 supplement. They will not have had much of an effect yet after only a week.

As a pp poster said the tablets can take a while to work. Spatone (can buy it over the counter) works much faster and has fewer side effects. I was badly anaemic in my last pregnancy and it's the only thing that sorted it.
