Hi
I’ve been told I will have a planned section due to the fact I am type 2 diabetic and I’ve had two emergency sections before .
My baby is now measuring very big on growth scans and is measuring off the chart .
My midwife has said she thinks baby will be delivered earlier than 38 weeks ???
I’m just wondering if this has happened to anyone else and how early ? 36? 37?
I’m starting to worry about it x

I think they always try to get to 37 weeks if possible but that would depend on the consultant in charge of your case.

I had a breech baby who measured "off the charts" at a 34 week scan. The c section was still only planned for 39 weeks +2. I went on to have 2 other sections for different reasons and can say that, in my trust, they will only do planned c sections at 39 weeks unless there are other medical issues.

Thank you , I’m there next week so I’ll see if anything is said then.
I am still thinking 38 weeks but just when my midwife told me that it got me thinking .

I was monitored throughout my second pregnancy as my first DD was so big (11lb 6.5oz). I had a CS at 39+2. I was advised that growth scans are notoriously unreliable, so they don't like to do electives before 39 weeks.

I’ve been told I will definitely be taken in for a section at 38 weeks because of my diabetes. I’ve been type 2 for the last 6 year.

My midwife did say she thought 36 -37 if he keeps growing at the rate he is .

I’m going to try and put it to the back of my mind until I talk to my consultant.

Been to see the consultant today and C section booked in for 37 weeks 😬😬😬
Really nervous .
Little man is measuring on growth scan as 6lb 10 oz , so not so little .

I had a planned csection with ds2 at 37 weeks due to me being type 2 diabetic (have been for many years) and him measuring big on scans. I had steroid injections a week before. It was very calm and relaxed, much nicer experience than my first emergency section! He weighed 9lb 5oz and was perfect!

@Velmasglasses sounds the same as me .
Thank you for the reassurance.
It’s weird to think on that date I’ll have my baby

@Poodlemum1 how many weeks are you now? Apologies if I've missed that in your posts but couldn't see it. I'm 36 + 4 and been told today that she's estimated at 7lb 4oz, currently being tested for GD.

Poodlemum1 · 17/11/2020 21:26

@Hatepickinganame I’m 33+3 I’ve been type 2 diabetic for years now so I’ve had close monitoring throughout.

I wasn’t diabetic with my two girls and they were both small babies.

I’m hoping he doesn’t get much bigger but if he does there isn’t much else I can do .

I’m hoping I don’t get preclampsia as that is what I was sent to PAU for after my appointment today as my BP was high and I had protine in my urine also ankles swollen.
I was ok to go home after a couple of hours but I’m hoping I can last until 37 weeks

I was taken in for induction at 37 weeks but I also had polyhydramnios (too much amniotic fluid) so it was too risky to let me start naturally.
