Congestion and im tearful and knackered

Hi

Im 18 weeks pregnant with my 2nd.
Ive had issues in the past with nasal congestion, pre pregnancy for a number of years causing me to use sudafed for longer than i should.
As soon as i found out i was pregnant, u stopped.

Its now causing big issues with my sleep. I have no idea how much im sleeping as i tend not to look at the clock (in case it keeps me up) but every, what feels like 20 mins, the congestion wakes me and i need to sip water. My sleep is completely broken and im waking up tired.

My job is utter shite at the moment and im so tearful. Ive practically cried for 2 days!
I feel like i want to call in sick tomorrow to catch up on sleep and the fact my shift will be super stressful tomorrow. Plus the fact, i feel pretty low and i have no reason to!

Any remedies for congestion? I dont want something that will last 20 mins as its at its worst when im sleeping.

Thanks

Have you tried saline nasal sprays? Is the congestion allergy related? You could try an antihistamine such as loratidine or cetirizine.
Corticosteroid nasal sprays are also supposed to be ok in pregnancy

I would speak to your gp and see what they suggest

I'm going to phone my GP in the morning and ask what I can take for congestion. Slightly different but I've had a cold for the last week with congestion slowly getting worse. I didn't sleep at all last night and I have been very tearful today because I'm exhausted.
I hope you feel better soon x

I'm not sure if it's safe in pregnancy but the calpol plug in is a life saver for me.

Thanks, i will call the GP tomorrow and ask what he recommends and if im allowed the calpol plug in.

@Quail15 - its awful isnt it. I never had this with my 1st.
I pray to have a better nights sleep tonight but judging by the fact i am starting to get bunged up already, i wont hold my breath! Sad

Having taken the Sudafed for too long can cause insomnia too.

Definitely call your gp tomorrow.

Try a steamy shower before bed too.
