Clear blue digital

Hi. I'm wondering if anyone can help, I've previously had 5 miscarriages and I'm worried I'm having another. I took a clear blue digital last Tuesday and it said 1-2 weeks, and it's still saying this result today. Has anyone had a successful pregnancy after this? Xxxx

I found the number of weeks depended on the time of day I took the test. My first test was first pee of the day which said 2-3. Later in the day it said 1-2.

I tried again the following the week in the middle of the day and it said 2-3 again. I guess it tests the amount of hormone you have in your pee, which will depend on whether it’s your first pee of the day.

albiemum · 09/11/2020 13:18

@MsHedgehog I guess so it was my second wee of the day but I must admit there wasn't much of it, my bladder wasn't full. Could that effect it? How far was you when you got 2-3? Xxx

I did see a difference. My first pee of the day said 2-3 weeks. We immediately went out and bought more tests so I kept drinking water so I could try again. Within a maximum of a couple of hours, it was 1-2.

I think it depends on how long you pee on the stick, and also how long it’s been since the last time you peed, as that will affect how long your pee has been in your bladder and therefore how long it’s had to collect the hormone.

I think the clear blue digital tells you how many weeks since conception rather than how many weeks pregnant. The first result of 2-3 weeks was correct when we calculated it.

@albiemum Hi Congratulations!! I wouldn't worry so much. I was 4 weeks pregnant when I did a digital and it showed 1-2 weeks. It all depends on what time of day you do the test and if your using FMU.

I know clear blue is meant to be accurate and all but I found that the weeks indicator isn't as reliable.

I'm currently 16 weeks and the baby is healthy doing somersaults 🙂

Perhaps you can contact your GP and have some blood works done for some peace of mind? Xx

Good luck with your pregnancy!

I wouldn't rely to heavly on the no. of weeks displayed on those tests. This pregnancy I was sure I was pregnant and took a clear blue digital test which came back negative. I took another one just over a week later and it said I was 3+ weeks was so confusing why it was negative then a week later it said 3+ weeks lol! Time of day you take the test, how concentrated your wee and how high your pregnancy hormones are all effect home tests like these. Good luck!

User43210 · 10/11/2020 02:54

I did one with FMU a week or two apart and it stuck on 1-2 or 2-3. I was paranoid after an MMC and an early miscarriage.

Currently coming to the end of my second trimester.

Don't worry. These tests have limits but lots of little things can effect them and they are not accurate. When I was testing my hCG after my MMC I went from 2-3 back to 3+ (or possibly 1-2 back to 2-3) but my blood work never went back up. I found more solace in using cheap tests and visually seeing the line get darker/stay darker.

Good luck @albiemum Thanks

Have you been to the doctor to find out why you've had so many miscarriages 5 is a lot I hope you don't have another one praying for you

albiemum · 10/11/2020 11:52

@whoeverthrewthatpaperyamomsaho yeah course, I'm under a gynaecologist which is a bit of a nightmare atm as all my apps have been cancelled due to covid. She's peascribed me with progesterone, aspirin & 5mg of folic acid so I'm hoping this makes a difference 😩🤞

@User43210 hopefully this is the case for me 😩 so scary isn't it, I've had 2 MMC and 3 where I've just bled and barely made it to 6 weeks. As you know it's a terrifying first few weeks 🙈 Thankyou for reply xxxxx

@PFin omg how strange ! That's crazy isn't it, I've read a lot they are very off tests. But due to my history I'm just so worked up.
Thankyou for reply xxxxxx

Sorry @albiemum I don’t think you read what I was meaning.

My current (successful) pregnancy didn’t progress through clearblue weekly indicator so I thought something was wrong - but it was just the indicator and everything is fine!!!

The comment about after my MMC was that, even when my hCG was going down, the weeks indicator went up at one point - just to point out that it’s not 100% accurate. It can go up or down, I think that sometimes a test may me more sensitive than another and is just an indication, there’s no need to worry for it staying the same.

albiemum · 10/11/2020 12:32

@User43210 ooh yes hun I mean I hope this is the same for me regarding the first bit xxxx

User43210 · 10/11/2020 12:34

@albiemum exactly!! Fingers crossed. It's the most difficult thing to do, especially after an MMC. So be patient. And be prepared to arrange private scans 😂 once they start to move daily, you can breathe again.

albiemum · 10/11/2020 13:23

@User43210 I literally have everything crossed 🤞😩😩 I've booked a scan for in 2 weeks- feels like forever awayyy! Xxx

OP posts:
albiemum · 10/11/2020 13:24

@User43210 also congratulations on your current pregnancy! Xxx

User43210 · 10/11/2020 13:27

I know the feeling. Positive thoughts for you and little one!!! It's easy to say not to worry as long as there's no bleeding or cramping but we both know that's not helpful! You'll get there 🤞 and it's definitely worth it. Not that the fear ever goes away after that first MMC scan. Xx ❤️

whoeverthrewthatpaperyamomsaho · 11/11/2020 11:21

Just really try and take care of your body eat lots of good nutritious food, get enough sleep and take it easy. I hope you reach full term and deliver a healthy baby 🙏🙏🙏🙏amen

I saw further up you said it was second urine and not alot. This would definitely affect the result! Try with first morning urine next time. Also the weeks indicate since conception if it says 1-2 you would be 3-4 weeks per a doctors result. Ive attached the hcg levels needed to indicate each next step on the display. The level needed for 2-3 just might not be quite where your at yet but im putting my money more on not using first morning urine. Hope this helps put your mind at rest. Some women don't hit the level needed for 2-3 till there over 5 weeks which can be perfectly normal... can you tell ive had losses also? Hahah research galore!
