Hi

I’ve been told my results have come back
Positive for diabetes.. how quick do U get an apt with the clinic? I waited over a week to get results I assumed all was ok because I had no call to say otherwise.. so was quite surprised at my midwife apt I had phone call same day to say it came back positive.. quite anxious because it’s been two weeks ideally and I don’t know how high my sugar is or what I should be doing etc I’ve cut out as much sugar as I can

Hi, I’ve got gestational diabetes and got diagnosed about 3 weeks ago. My hospital was quite quick in dealing with it. I got the phone call 2 days after my test and my appointment was the next day but I think that was coincidence, some women there had been told about there appointment 3 days before. Any questions feel free to ask me Smile

I got my results 2 days after as had a growth scan and consultant appointment booked. I had to monitor bloods for a fortnight and then back for another growth scan, consultant appointment and see the diabetes nurse.

Mine is slightly different as baby measuring on the smaller side and sometimes my bloods are dipping lower but sometimes going higher. I recorded everything I ate for a month to see what was best for me.

I limit the processed sugar and only have a small chocolate it bloods dip or feel faint. I stopped eating white bread and have whole grain and try to eat whole grain pasta too. I find the best thing for me is to just balance the carbs with protein.

I was told not to beat myself up as sometimes whatever you eat makes no difference if you’re body won’t produce the insulin. I was out onto metaformin and then it was increased further and next step will be inject insulin if doesn’t resolve the issue but only 4wks left until due date and they want to induce earlier anyway. I do have to be tested 3mth after giving birth though to see if it’s just gestational diabetes or I have always had diabetes. But I do believe most people will be tested after giving birth anyway.

Thank you ladies

I was just a bit concerned because I had my test on the 27th but still have had no contact with anyone from the clinic.. I have chased this and keep getting told they have my referral and will be in touch...
