Hi ladies

I'm currently 23 weeks pregnant and everything has been going well so far. It came in to my head that after getting my blood test for down syndrome at my 12 week scan I never got my results? Has this happened to anyone else? Everything looked great at my 20 week scan. Would the sonographer be able to tell at the scan? I seen my midwife yesterday but forgot to say to her about it. I don't know if I'm just worrying over nothing but with my last pregnancies I got a letter through not long after

They would only phone you if there was a problem. At least that's what happens in my area.

Betty94 · 05/11/2020 22:52

I got a letter about mine - maybe call and ask? I'm sure everything's fine but it's a peace of mind x

Oneandabean · 05/11/2020 22:53

You should have had a letter even if low risk, I’d ring and ask the midwife

37weekswithno2 · 05/11/2020 22:54

@Oneandabean that must depend on area. No letters sent here. Only a phone call if high risk

Oneandabean · 05/11/2020 22:58

@37weekswithno2 at the very least it should be in pregnancy notes

We're not given handheld notes anymore. It will be genuinely completely different all over the uk.

Op if you're worried just call and check, I'm sure they won't mind but I wouldn't see the lack of contact itself as something to worry about.

I had no letter but checked maternity app and saw all results there x

Oneandabean · 06/11/2020 07:43

@37weekswithno2 ah ok, I still have the notes didn’t know they did apps and stuff

JemimaTiggywinkle · 06/11/2020 07:47

Mine came in the post.

If you were high risk they definitely would have been in touch, because they would be offering you further tests.

But agree it’s worth phoning just to check.

SkyBlue20 · 06/11/2020 07:53

They don’t give you the results in my trust - you get a phone call if high risk and nothing if not. I wouldn’t worry too much - they’d have told you if you were high risk and things may also have been flagged at 20 weeks. Worth a call for your peace of mind though.

Semele5069 · 06/11/2020 07:53

Yep, while you should have had a letter this is definitely a "no news is good news" situation. They would have phoned and offered follow up if you were high risk, that wouldn't just go under the radar.

We've no app either. The community midwives hold our notes and they're on the IT system. It's actually a bit annoying not being able to read through your notes.
With ds we held our own notes but they've changed it

Trufflepuffpuff · 06/11/2020 08:06

The same thing happened to me OP, I think it was an admin error as they told me I should have received a copy for my files, but as others have said, the midwife reassured me everything was fine and you would have been told if not.

EatTheHamTina · 06/11/2020 08:08

You should have got a letter. Just ring and ask for it so it can be popped into your notes. I'm sure they would have picked something up in the 20 week scan and you would have had a phone call if you were at high risk.

Mummyto2123 · 06/11/2020 10:36

I attended the midwife on Wednesday and thinking she would have the results and would tell me if there was anything to worry about? I should have asked but it went out my mind until I left
