January sales - are they worth it?

Hi everyone,
I am pregnant with my first, and due at the end of January. I am 28+3weeks now and have started shopping for essentials. For anyone with experience, is it worth waiting until the January sales or Black Friday deals for the big items like a car seat and cot? Or is there really no difference?

@NewAndConfused I don't remember there being any difference really. I would say for the smaller ticket items the baby events were good esp Aldi.
