Hi, I went for an early scan today all they could see was an empty sac have to go back in 11 days for a rescan. Has anyone else experienced this?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

@PaigeS96 please keep me updated and I wish you so much luck for Wednesday Thanks

Isit2021yetplease · 05/11/2020 11:19

@PaigeS96 I caved yesterday and drove a lo way to a walk in EPU and got scanned and my 4 week 6 day empty sack is now 6 W 4 day baby with a heart beat ☺️
So they must’ve measured it wrong last time or their scanning equipment wasn’t very good as it’s measuring bang on now. Was a total waste of money on the “reassurance scan” which did the opposite of reassuring me!! So all fingers crossed you have same good news.

PaigeS96 · 05/11/2020 11:26

Ah wow brilliant news for you!! I’m sure if my dates so just praying next Wednesday I see a little flicker! Have everything crossed 🤞🤞 x

@PaigeS96 how are you doing? Unfortunately I've started spotting since yesterday and today has gotten slightly worse 😔

PaigeS96 · 08/11/2020 17:23

I’m good still hoping and praying and remaining as positive as I can have good and bad days! Sorry to hear about your spotting are you going to ring your midwife? I met mine this week she was amazing! 3 more sleep until I know for certain!! How are you feeling?

OP posts:
Christie08 · 08/11/2020 18:13

@PaigeS96 I haven't no, I've just been with the EPU. Glad you met her, I think it's important to have that support! I'm just feeling completely lost to be honest, just at the stage questioning why me. But I know so many others are also in my position or have been. Just didn't think I would have 2 in a row. This is how my last miscarriage started with the spotting so I'm just waiting now!

PaigeS96 · 08/11/2020 18:18

I know it’s so hard to stay positive especially if you have been through it before 🙁 will you be able to get a scan earlier than Friday? Do you still have pregnancy symptoms?

OP posts:
Christie08 · 08/11/2020 18:55

@PaigeS96 I'm not sure I probably could but I think at this stage with spotting I'd rather just wait until Friday anyway. If I make it til that stage! See I only ever had/have fatigue. And hcg levels were high enough. But the lack of symptoms worried me a bit last week and in my heart I knew something wasn't right! What about you how are you feeling? X

chunkyfunk · 08/11/2020 19:06

I had a scan at 5wk5days due to bleeding they could only see the yolk sac no heartbeat, went back 2 weeks later and everything was fine. It's more than likely just too early try not to worry easier said than done I know! Thanks

Too add the scan was to check it wasn't ectopic ( due to bleeding and pain) I don't think it's the norm to scan that early on.
PaigeS96 · 08/11/2020 19:29

Bless you man! I have everything crossed for you! Yeah my symptoms are through the roof hoping it’s a good sign! But I think a lot of they symptoms can be in your head when I went for my scan it was like they all disappeared woke up and didn’t feel pregnant didn’t last long tho! X

PaigeS96 · 08/11/2020 19:29

Aw that’s lovely for you! Praying I have the same outcome!

OP posts:
Christie08 · 08/11/2020 19:57

@chunkyfunk Glad you had a good outcome always good to hear! Unfortunately in my case I was scanned at 6+1 weeks for sure with only an empty sac showing, no yolk sac.

Christie08 · 11/11/2020 11:58

@PaigeS96 have you had your appointment yet?

PaigeS96 · 11/11/2020 13:51

dizzycatdance2 · 11/11/2020 16:30

Really hoping for a good outcome for you.

TTCBaby1 · 11/11/2020 18:10

We also had this at the weekend, it’s our first baby so booked a reassurance scan before I tell my parents (only child and first grandchild for them)

Unfortunately our scan showed an empty sac measuring 14mm... we are booked to go back in two weeks and it’s the longest two weeks of our life! My dates would put us at 6 weeks but the lady kindly advised our dates may be slightly out as we hadn’t tracked ovulation.

Prior to the appointment I was having so many symptoms... tired, feeling sick, sore boobs and since the scan I feel like I haven’t got half as many (hoping it’s in my head) Hoping for some miracle stories xx

tiffy1394 · 11/11/2020 22:54

I hope everything went well tonight. When you have a moment, please could you let us know? I have a second scan next week Thursday as I only had the yolk sac to show and no heart beat. They checked to see if I had any sort of miscarriage and there were no signs (they did a physical examination similar to a smear test). I really hope my first baby is okay. Feeling very anxious. Hoping for the best for you. Xx

Hey hope you're well. How did you get on? I hope all is okay. Sending you love and good wishes. Xx
PaigeS96 · 13/11/2020 08:03

Feeling very frustrated they are making me wait another week as nhs policy is you have to have 2 scans! So I go back in Thursday morning and will then decide which option to take. Horrible having all these symptoms when there is nothing there x

I had a month of "slow growth" scans before my 1st mc was confirmed. It was utterly tortuous. The longest month of my life. This is going to sound hideous , but I found it "easier" with my 2nd mc when I found out at the 12 week scan. At least it was certain.

I'm so sorry you are going through this, I found keeping bizzy helped, something to do am,pm,eve (not so easy in lock down though!)

Have you been given any idea if next week's scan might bring good news ?
