Hi all!

I just thought I'll share my experience with early pregnancy so far. I'm 6 weeks pregnant and have very few symptoms but what is more pronounced is the constant hunger! Wake up in the middle of the night with it, hungry before it's lunch time and then before I even manage to leave work at 5pm. I know the metabolism is increased in early pregnancy but I really dont want to "eat for two". I feel like I need to have a double lunch at work as I keep thinking about food and cannot concentrate.

How did you girls cope with this issue?
Xx

Oh I remember this phase well, I didn't cope I just ate because nothing else worked 😂😂 I'm due in 3 weeks now snd the hunger has once returned 🤭 xx

I ate.

Yep! MIL guessed I was pregnant second time as I was eating sandwiches between meals...

Yep, I had this too. Only really had increased hunger in the first trimester, specifically weeks 5-14 when I had nausea.

Just eat. Your body is the best indicator of what you need. If you're hungry, your baby needs food. For what it's worth, I was eating probably 4.5 meals a day in terms of calories during that time and my pregnancy weight gain was healthy.

Just try to make more or less healthy food decisions if you can (morning sickness can be a harsh dictator though!). I'd carry snacks with me everywhere (dried fruit etc) so I wasn't buying chocolate bars in desperation when that sudden urgent hunger hit me.

Your body is telling you what it needs - just eat!

In the past year I have been very careful with my diet and so I struggle to relax and eat more now but I will have to. I think it wont be difficult to get used to more snacks and bigger meals Smile

Thank you all for your replies x

Enjoy it while it lasts before you suddenly hate all food!

I'm 8 weeks and I've been the same!
Can't eat as big a meal as I used to but throughout the day I'm having high protein snacks where possible to help fill me up e.g. the arla protein yoghurts which have 20g protein and lots of calcium too.

This was me at 6 weeks pregnant too, 6 pack of hula hoops in one go was a regular thing 😳 it’s gets better though I’m 16 weeks now and back to eating as normal! x

I can’t remember when I had this but I definitely did for a few weeks early on. My advice would be go for foods that are filling, pass on the low fat/low calorie snacks as they didn’t touch the sides for me. I ate a lot of full fat (but low sugar) yoghurts and cheese and it filled me up a lot quicker- plain weetabix was great too
