Period pains everyday, almost 5 weeks pregnant

Is this normal? I've one 22 month old and can't remember this happening when I was pregnant with him, I also had a missed miscarriage earlier in the year and don't recall this either :(
Started having bad period cramps last Tuesday/Wednesday, I felt abit rough so did a test on Thursday and it said positive! I had done a few tests in the days before and they were negative. So I thought could have been implantation pains. But I've had these strong period pains everyday now where it feels like my period is almost about to start but have had no bleeding. My midwife appointment is a week on Thursday. Are these round ligament pains? Thank you for any advice x

But they're not period pains? They're your muscles and uterus stretching and everything, they're just in the exact same location as period cramps usually are.

I had that with all 4 of my DC. Disconcerting but luckily all ok. Also, after the 1st one, the whole area was definitely more prone to stretching and creaking aches and minor pains in the early weeks. Good luck

Ahh thank you very much, oh really! I was expecting pregnancy would get easier with each one and assumed there'd be less stretching 😅 I hope that's what it is, thank you for your reply x

@sarahjsdddd morning, I'm 4 + 1 and I've had period pains and backache for two days now! It's so worrying isn't it, I had a Mc a year ago so struggling to relax, so I'm glad I'm not the only
One with them!

Yes I did, period pains - that’s exactly what it felt like practically all the way through, then braxton hicks at the end! The period like pains were bad enough to keep me awake at night and checking in the loo as it very much felt like a period coming my way. I used a warm hot water bottle and a pillow in bed and it helped a bit.

Had to post when I saw this! My wonderful baby was a ‘lovely surprise’ (!) and I found out I was pregnant because I was having awful period-like cramps but no period. I googled it and google was like, hun, you’re pregnant. I sent DH out to get a test immediately and that was that! I was five weeks as well. So I do think, from my experience, period type cramps are totally normal. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Thank you all for the replies! Very reassuring, I've got the cramps again tonight seems to happen every evening. Is it ok to have paracetamol when they're bad? I'm trying not to have unless desperate x
