Hi all,

I'm 12+5 and I've been having these small specks of blood when wiping all day (about 12 hours now).

I don't have cramps but my stomach has been uncomfortable and achy all day however I've had quite an upset stomach for the last 24 hours so I think it's related to that.

I had my dating scan yesterday and everything was fine. Is this normal? What could it be?

Hi OP. I had similar and all was fine, but advice is to get any bleeding checked out. It's likely to be nothing, but we can't really tell you if it's normal or not. Give your midwife or GP a call.

Hello,

That's good to know! Unfortunately my EPU won't see me unless I'm passing clots and having cramps and GP just tells me to ring EPU :(

That's frustrating. My local EPU was happy to scan me. Could you book a private scan in a week or so just for peace of mind? I know people say you just have to watch and wait, but it's such an anxious time and if you are able to book a scan and reassure yourself that might be an idea?

ShalomToYouJackie · 26/10/2020 19:51

that's a really good idea as I'll get a bit of spare money this month when I'm paid next week so I'll book one next week for asap and see how I get on in the mean time.

I know MN can't diagnose me I was just hoping for some reassurance that others had experienced the same perhaps after an upset stomach

My EPU only deal with enquires up to a set number of weeks, it could be worth trying your midwife/midwife team as your 12 weeks

Mylittlesandwich · 26/10/2020 20:29

I had these little specs on an off all the way through. It was a PITA as I'm Rh negative and had to have anti-d each time but DS was just fine. They didn't find a cause for the bleeding but thought it might be my cervix.

ZooKeeper123 · 26/10/2020 20:35

I have also had this but mine was actually just from a tiny cut down below as I was wiping so much panicking after having previous miscarriages 🤦🏼‍♀️ Could it be something like that ? X

earthtopluto · 26/10/2020 20:41

As I said OP, I had this and all was well. A little bit of blood can be normal. Best of luck to you and congrats on your pregnancy :)

MsMarvellous · 26/10/2020 20:51

I had similar at the same sort of time frame and all was well. So frustrating when you're dismissed, but if it continues if call the EPU again. You may get a different response from a different person on a different day.

ShalomToYouJackie · 27/10/2020 08:09

Unfortunately bleeding has got much much heavier and more painful over night, waiting for EPU to pick up my voicemail

I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope they've got back to you by now. Not knowing is awful.

LittleTiger007 · 27/10/2020 12:12

I’m really sorry that the bleeding has got heavier/worse. I had this last week along with the pain as you describe. It just lasted a couple of days and got a little heavier than your pics, although similar. I’m having a scan at the end of this week. My dr wasn’t worried and suggested that small amounts like that can be to do with the womb stretching, unadhering to internal structures it’s rested against for years, popping forward a little (as I have a backward facing womb). Maybe some or one of these causes might be coming into play.
I hope you get some reassurances soon.

LittleTiger007 · 28/10/2020 12:11

I hope all is well @ShalomToYouJackie

ShalomToYouJackie · 28/10/2020 13:58

@Littletiger007 Thank you ever so much. Had a scan today and all is fine, it turns out the bleeding is actually blood in my urine and I'm passing clots in my wee 😳

nobody can figure out why but I'm so relieved the baby is okay!

I'm so relieved! I hope they get to the bottom of what's wrong with you but I'm so pleased your little one is ok.

ShowOfHands · 28/10/2020 14:09

I was going to say that looks like blood in your urine. I get that with a v bad UTI. Have they ruled out an infection? They do need treating v quickly in pregnancy.

fastandthecurious · 28/10/2020 14:23

I got these when pregnant and wiping but later on. Mine turned out to be little scratches on my Labia as it had gotten sensitive and swollen. Wiping aggravated them. It cleared up not long after birth. Do go and get it checked if you're worried though. Do you have a community midwife you can contact?

fastandthecurious · 28/10/2020 14:24

Sorry just RTFT 🙈 glad everything is ok with baby and hope they can figure out what's happening with you soon!

ShalomToYouJackie · 28/10/2020 16:14

@mylittlesandwich @fastandthecurious thank you ♥️

@showofhands all urine tests are coming back negative for an infection but I've been given antibiotics to take for a week just incase. It's been terrifying as I go the toilet and the water has turned dark red but it's just wee thank goodness!

Mummyoftwo2018 · 28/10/2020 16:34

I'm having same problem but I'm 8 weeks and it isnt only a little as this is my 2and pregnancy with an 8 year gap after being told I cant have anymore, been advised to wait for midwife to call me and see what they say

LittleTiger007 · 28/10/2020 18:05

@ShalomToYouJackie well I’m so glad to hear that baby is ok but sorry to hear about your wee! Hopefully the antibiotics will sort that out
