I'm trying to gather a few bits and pieces for bump's arrival...great advice on here re what is necessary, what is not etc, thank you all for that!

General consensus seems to be that clothes are needed but I am a bit unsure as to what I would actually dress a newborn in, especially for the 1st couple of days in hospital.

M&S has a sale on, so having a look at these:

long sleeved bodysuits which seemed bargainous - is that the kind of thing I should be getting? And what keeps their teeny legs warm?!!

God I shouldn't have been allowed to get pregnant, sorry...

Have to say, our vests from Tesco did DD and were then passed on to DS. Lasted fine. But this was, ahem, 7 years ago, so they may be different now.

DS was 10lb 5oz and the newborn stuff I'd bought was completely useless (and some of it was really cute ). Fortunately we were expecting him to be big so had mostly 0-3 month things.

We had him (January baby) in short-sleeved vests with longsleeved bodysuits over the top, but our flat is fairly warm. If yours is cold then longsleeved vests might be better.
