One episode of light brown spotting... help

Hi ladies,

In a bit of a panic & looking for some guidance. Currently 8+5.

When I went to the toilet last night, there was the tiniest bit of pale brown bloody discharge in my pants & then a little bit when I wiped. No cramping or anything.

Since then that one episode, it has gone & my normal daily (gross) pale yellow discharge has resumed. Midwife said yellow caused by change in hormones/pregnacare but to go to GP by next week if it hasn’t cleared as could be a yeast infection.

I’m just looking to see if this is normal & what could it be?

Had a scan at 7+2 and there was a heartbeat and baby was measuring to the day.

I have just booked a private scan for tomorrow morning but feel so, so anxious.

Thank you so much,
Willow x

I had this, just a bit of old blood, everything settling down. If you have seen a heartbeat then chances are everything is good. Try not to worry too much xx

Willowfalls · 24/10/2020 10:02

@SandysMam thank you so much. I didn’t realise pregnancy would turn me neurotic 🤯 xxx

Sorry to tell you but this is just the start of a life time of worry Grin so worth it though. Hope it all goes ok, let us know how the reassurance scan goes if you can.

Willowfalls · 24/10/2020 16:39

Haha, that is what my mum said! I have it at 9.30am tomorrow so will let you know how it goes. Thank you again xxx

@Willowfalls , I've had exactly the same today 😣 I had a scan booked for next Saturday but pulled it forward to tomorrow. It's all I've been able to think about all day and I'm sick with worry. I will be 7 weeks tomorrow xx

Willowfalls · 24/10/2020 17:43

@Jazper oh bless you! It’s so consuming isn’t it. Have you felt okay? I haven’t had anything since the one wipe last night and my normal discharge is back! Just hoping it wasn’t anything morbid xxx

I had quite a bit of brown blood mixed with discharge throughout week 6, I booked a private scan and everything was fine. Had my first midwife apt yesterday and mentioned it to her, she said it was very common in the first few weeks and unless it was accompanied by bad cramps etc then not to worry. Easier said than done though I know 😅 x

Willowfalls · 24/10/2020 18:22

@KateColx thanks so much Kate! I worried about being able to get pregnant and now I’m pregnant, I am worrying more!!! How many weeks are you now? X

@Willowfalls ah I know how you feel, I'm exactly the same!! I'm 8 weeks today, so just behind you. Have you had your first midwife app? X

Willowfalls · 24/10/2020 18:35

Yes, had it on Thursday, 12 week scan is on the 17th. Just hoping all will be okay tomorrow. My gut feeling is that it will but always that worry. How have you been feeling? X

Joeyandpacey · 24/10/2020 18:38

I had that at 9 weeks and everything was fine, luckily. But such a worry.

Willowfalls · 24/10/2020 19:27

@Joeyandpacey thank you! Glad all okay was okay for you. Was it literally just a few wipes and then nothing else? X

@Willowfalls do not worry at all. This happens to so many women. I had it too and it was all ok. You saw the heartbeat and baby was fine in the previous scan so it will all be ok. Have a good night rest.

Willowfalls · 24/10/2020 19:35

@Doyouknow that’s so reassuring to hear, thank you. I woke up at 4am feeling completely panicked but have slept today. I think it’s just the unknown. I’ll let you know how I get on tomorrow :) xx

I totally get what you are saying. I wish you all the best for the scan. Sure it will go well.

teaandcake22 · 24/10/2020 19:58

It is really common but midwives will say you just have to wait and see. Try not to worry which is easier said than done. Best of luck. X

Good to read all the messages of reassurance. @Willowfalls I've felt ok. Usual stretching pains... I've got three children and have always felt slight period pains in the early weeks. Never had brown discharge or any kind of blood though so that really threw me off my guard. I think the fact you've had no pains whatsoever, coupled with the fact you've already seen a healthy heartbeat, is all really positive for you x

CrazyCatLady2788 · 24/10/2020 20:03

Exactly the same thing happened to me on 3 separate occasions before my 12 week scan. I ended up having a scan at 8 and 10 weeks to check all was OK and it was! I'm now approaching 35 weeks and all has been fine upto now touch wood. They never gave me an explanation for it apart from it could have been implantation bleeding 🤷🏻‍♀️. I hope all goes well tomorrow 😊 x

KateColx · 25/10/2020 08:54

@Willowfalls generally I haven't felt too bad, I have constant nausea, sore boobs and tiredness but nothing horrific. How about you? Good luck with your scan today 💕

Willowfalls · 25/10/2020 10:12

All was fine - thank you everyone. I had a ruptured cyst on my ovary which caused the bleed. Baby measuring 9 weeks today and a good heartbeat :) xxx

@KateColx I’m the same minus the nausea! Glad you aren’t feeling too bad. Thank you for the well wishes both 🥰 and good luck with the next few weeks @CrazyCatLady2788 xx

Doyouknow · 25/10/2020 15:20

@Willowfalls that's wonderful!! Keep well and hope you have a healthy pregnancy

Willowfalls · 25/10/2020 16:21

@Jazper thank you, will you let me know how you get on? Xx

@Doyouknow thank you so much xx

@Willowfalls just on our way home from scan now. Everything is present and correct and in the right place but I'm measuring a week behind what I expected. Sonographer said she was confident all seemed ok and to not worry too much about measurements as, at this stage, 0.5mm is the difference of a week (she put me at 5w 5d). I'm booked in for a rescan in two weeks so I suppose I just have to wait, hope and pray xx

Willowfalls · 27/10/2020 20:47

@Jazper how are you feeling? Keeping everything crossed for you!! Sounds like everything is in the right place :) xxx
